Governments are trying to deal with systemic issues in building and construction, but can they do it without industry rolling up its sleeves?

This sector plays a vital role in Australia’s economy yet, despite ongoing attempts by governments to address the failures, we continue to see evidence of performance across the Federation that doesn’t meet the reasonable expectations of the public.

In response, RICS wants to shine a spotlight on the issues and ultimately build confidence in the sector by improving professional behaviour – the act of being reliable, competent and ethical.

Why? Because we see these inputs as key to manifesting good built outcomes and for inspiring the kind of confidence and certainty that drives competition, investment and sustainable growth.

We also believe governments cannot succeed without industry support because professionalism can’t simply be enforced, it must find a home in the hearts and minds of those people working daily in the industry.

With the aid of senior stakeholders, this full day conference is about openly discussing the issues as much as it is identifying examples of best-practice activity and disruptive thinking that are improving behaviour across construction, lending, investment, valuation and certification.

Conference goers are also invited to attend the RICS 150 dinner where we take a rare look at RICS’ history in Australia and New Zealand at our Gala Dinner evening.
