RICS Governing Council has taken a number of decisions to better equip it to set our strategy and ensure the appropriate level of oversight that our profession and external stakeholders would expect. Amongst the changes are a move to two Council meetings a year, timed to fit with our cycle of planning and performance reporting.
Smart city strategies are currently implemented in many countries aiming among other things at reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

To improve sustainability and drive market demand for better buildings, a new open source assessment framework, Level(s), has been developed by the European Commission in close collaboration with stakeholders including RICS, Skanska, Saint-Gobain, Sustainable Building Alliance and Green Building Councils.
