RICS’ North East region is part of its national association of England.
The North East economy has been transformed over recent decades, with historical industries such as shipbuilding, mining and steel giving way to electronics, automotive production and telecommunications. Today, the manufacturing industry is the strongest part of the region's economy, with public administration, education and health and the private service sector also providing jobs for a significant part of the workforce.
The RICS in the North East region stretches from Berwick-upon-Tweed right down to the Yorkshire Border. Although much of the region is rural and includes several areas of outstanding natural beauty, the majority of the population live in its cities and towns.
Our professionals play a key role in the development of both public and private sectors in there, whether working with local authority planning, on regeneration projects or with clients in all areas of commercial property. By operating closely with regional and local government, educational institutions and regional media, RICS in the North East works hard on behalf of members to ensure chartered surveyors have a strong voice in the area.
