The new Electronic Communications Code is intended to better regulate the relationship between landlords and network operators and clarify agreements relating to apparatus on land and properties. Building on the success of last year’s event, RICS Telecoms Forum Conference 2018 will provide a timely update on key aspects of the Code and implications for surveyors.

Delivered through a combination of keynote presentations and panel discussions, this year’s conference will bring together key players in the industry and will examine how the Code is working on the ground and will address sessions such as connected cities and implications for the telecoms sector, role of internet service providers and mobile operators on rooftop sites, valuation aspects of the Code and many more.

  • The Electronic Communications code
    Guy Fetherstonhaugh QC at Falcon Chambers explains the provisions and operations of the new code and will cover crucial elements that telecommunications, landowners and surveying professionals need to be aware of.
  • The new Code – behavioural implications for surveyors
    Valuation of rights is a vital element of the new code. RICS is currently working with key stakeholders to produce some guidance around this subject matter. The conference will be the perfect opportunity to discuss this in more details and feed into any upcoming consultation.
  • The Values and psychology of the technology industry
    The digital industry has seen unprecedented growth over the past decade however how does one navigate the complexities surrounding ethics and the use of technology? Find out as Katy Cook, Founder of The Centre for Technology Awareness joins us to give a thought provoking talk on responsible, safe and ethical use of technology.
  • Connected cities and what it all means for the telecoms industry
    Dr Nigel Mehdi, lecturer at the Oxford University and author of the RICS Insight Paper entitled Big Data, smart cities and intelligent buildings will discuss what impact big data is having on the real estate, construction and the built environment, what it takes for smart cities to be successful and resulting implications for surveyors.
