Thanks to the 2018 Property Marketing Awards (PMA), one vital bed space has been donated to our Pledge150 campaign – in partnership with LandAid – which aims to deliver at least 150 bed spaces for young homeless people.
The PMA is a not-for-profit event organised by the Chartered Surveyors’ Company which celebrates and encourages innovative and creative marketing campaigns in UK real estate.
This year, organisers kindly donated £15,000 to our Pledge150 campaign, with the cheque presented at this year’s award ceremony hosted by broadcaster Sophie Raworth, in front of a 200 strong audience.
The awards have been running for more than 25 years and each year, the livery company distribute proceeds from their awards through the livery’s Charitable Trust, giving help and support to make a difference to those who are less fortunate, with an emphasis on improving education and promoting the key skills of property professionals.
Paul Morrish, CEO of LandAid, said: "Every year, at least 86,000 young people in the UK experience homelessness. Homelessness doesn’t just mean rough sleeping, indeed for the vast majority of young people it includes all those having to live with friends on sofas, or floors or living in overcrowded and unsafe accommodation. This fantastic donation from the Property Marketing Awards is enough to provide a bed space for at least eight years offering safe, secure accommodation for a whole bunch of young people. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved in the awards."
Colin Peacock, the Property Marketing Awards chairman, said: "We are very pleased to be able to support the RICS Pledge 150 campaign. A heartfelt thanks to all our generous industry sponsors and talented and enthusiastic entrants who have made it possible."
As part of the RICS Pledge150 campaign, those working in the built environment may also be given the opportunity to provide pro bono property advice to local charities supporting disadvantaged young people, families and communities, including those experiencing homelessness. If you’re feeling inspired to help our Pledge150 campaign, and are feeling compelled to take on a challenge of your own, email our Pledge150 team to get involved.
Or donate via text by texting RICS12 followed by £3, £5 or £10 to 70070.
