Meet the sponsors

Sponsoring the Awards provides firms with the perfect opportunity to raise the profile of their organisation by aligning their brand with RICS, the leader in setting international standards.

Sika is the headline sponsor for all 12 regional RICS Awards ceremonies in 2019. Here, we find out more about the global group, and why they have sponsored the RICS Awards for the past eight years.

Can you tell us about Sika?

Sika Limited and Sika Ireland Limited are part of the global Sika Group, specialising in the manufacture and supply of chemical based products. Sika has a leading position in the development and production of systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing, and protecting in the building sector and the motor vehicle industry. Sika has subsidiaries in 100 countries around the world and manufactures in over 200 factories.

With more than 18,000 employees Sika generates annual sales of CHF 6.25 billion (£4.76bn). We are also committed to providing quality, service, safety, and environmental care. In the UK and Ireland, we provide market-leading solutions for concrete, waterproofing, roofing, flooring, refurbishment, sealing & bonding, and industry, and have manufacturing sites in Welwyn Garden City, Preston, Leeds, and Dublin, with more than 865 employees, and a turnover of more than £240 million.

What value does Sika get from being a headline sponsor at the RICS Awards?

Many of the shortlisted projects at the RICS Awards will have benefited from Sika products or solutions, so it’s a good opportunity for us to raise awareness of our work on such developments, and talk to other property professionals and teams that could benefit from our solutions in the future.

We also get great brand exposure, and an opportunity to speak at the ceremony about our latest projects and recent successes, in front of our key audience.

What’s the best thing about the RICS Awards?

We’ve been sponsoring and attending the RICS Awards for over eight years now. It never gets ‘old’ to see each region’s top property projects - that are providing real value to the communities they serve – win accolades, and even better if Sika have been involved in them, as this makes us proud to see our work play a part in gaining such recognition.

The opportunity to network with hundreds of property professionals from all disciplines, all under one roof is also a huge bonus. Overall, it’s a great celebratory evening, with lots of food and drink – ideal for inviting clients to, and for the collaborative efforts of successful teams to get the recognition they deserve.

Can you tell us about some favourite or ‘most successful’ projects you’ve completed?

We are involved with so many diverse projects across the UK and Ireland, from Crayola World in America, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Ferrari in Greater Manchester to the Queens Ferry Crossing in Scotland, Comedy Carpet in Blackpool and Crossrail Farringdon Station in London.

What does 2019 hold for Sika?

In the UK, we are experiencing a high single figure growth, and remain positive about our full year results. In 2019, we will continue to focus on promoting a number of products into the construction market, which are specified in the refurbishment sector.

We are committed to permanent innovation, and driving higher building standards. We will continue to do this through our involvement in many industry recognised trade associations. Some of the new products we will be launching include a new improved Sika®-1 pre-bagged waterproofing product. We will continue to promote our highly successful products and systems, such as SikaTack® Panel Adhesive System, and our Concrete Repair and Protection systems. In addition, the training and support that we provide to our specialist contractors will remain a focus, to ensure the very best in quality workmanship.
