Thought-leaders in real estate, construction and property management are coming together to discuss the future of cities at seven conferences organized by RICS. The first three stops of the RICS Summit Series Americas 2018, which started in January, were in Houston, San Francisco and Miami. Next month, RICS will be in New York and Mexico City before moving on to Toronto and São Paulo.
At the RICS Summit Series Americas 2018 stop in Miami, real estate thought-leaders discussed the real estate market and their strategies for mitigating risk. In short, they agreed that having high quality data is key, using best practices is essential, sharing knowledge (via RICS) mitigates impact and black swans will continue to swim.

The Miami Summit was the third of seven conferences in the Summit Series in the Americas and it was tinged with a political undercurrent. While in Houston and San Francisco future planning was optimistic, any talk of the future is more uncertain in Florida where sea level rise threatens to wipe out most of the state.
