The new Modus and journals platform will present a new way of navigating content. You will be able to look at Modus, and all four journals – Built Environment, Construction, Land and Property – to see what’s new, search by specialism or from a designated list of topics from the drop-down list on the top of the page. If you’re looking for something very specific, you can use the search box to type in keywords.

We believe that the new digital platform will make our technical journals and Modus a more convenient and flexible offering, with members able to easily find the content that interests them most.

Find your content in different ways

Not only will the platform provide new content, but we’ve also converted many of our print articles to the new digital format. The site will launch with a substantial permanent archive – in contrast to the current temporary archive – and we will continue to add to it over time.

Each publication will upload a number of new articles every week, allowing us to produce more timely content and respond to RICS initiatives, as well as changes in law and legislation, something that was not possible with a print publishing schedule. As a member you will be able to sign up for emails that will give you a regular reminder of what has been uploaded so you can see recently added content.

Depending on your reading preferences, you may want to check in with Modus and the journals regularly to see what’s new, have a look when you get your email digest or search for a particular topic when you need specific information, which is where a digital platform really comes into its own. All articles will be identifiable by publication, attached to various tags and linked to specialisms where relevant – all of which we hope will make it easier for you to find relevant content.

We will be able to provide more content relevant to different regions as well, and we encourage members from across the world to reach out to us if you have ideas you think need to be shared with the global RICS network.

Your view matters

The digital platform is a work-in-progress, where new features will be added in stages, with the intention that in time RICS members will be able to set alerts for topics of most interest, so you can always be up to date with the content that’s personally and professionally relevant.

Please do let us know your feedback, not only on what content you would like to see, but also whether you are having any difficulties with usability after the launch, or if there are any user features that you would like to see. These are your resources, so your input is vitally important to help us continuously improve the service we offer to support your professional development.

Three top tips for making the most of the new platform

  1. Explore all the ways to navigate around the content – use the search box, the landing pages, the specialisms and the tags
  2. Sign up for emails, when available, to get a monthly overview of content
  3. Reach out to us with any thoughts, ideas, comments or questions at either journals@rics.org or editor@ricsmodus.com
