A new vision for RICS’ Standards and Regulation Board (SRB) is taking shape following the appointment of Nigel Clarke as permanent Chair in late 2023.

The SRB is recruiting for five RICS member and five independent positions for its permanent board.

As members of the SRB, new appointees will take their place upholding sector-leading standards, developing a consistent, global regulatory strategy, and overseeing implementation across all world regions. The roles demand significant technical skills and expertise.

While the SRB operates within the whole body of the RICS, the strategy, governance and delivery of RICS standards and regulation is led separately from the interests of members, and is built upon the foundation of the public interest.

Speaking about the newly created positions, SRB Chair Nigel Clarke said: “We’re looking for five members of the RICS and five independent members, and are keen to bring together a talented and diverse group of thinkers. Diverse by gender, age, geography, knowledge, experience and culture, they will respond to the challenges that we face, ensuring that RICS standards are sound, effective and consequently respected globally, not least by our 130,000 members, but also and importantly, by the very diverse range of stakeholders with whom we interact.”

Meanwhile, a new Professional Standards Steering Group (PSSG) has been established by the SRB. Primarily responsible for reviewing, monitoring and examining RICS’ Professional Standards, the PSSG will act to uphold the public interest. The Steering Group will make recommendations for approval or otherwise, to the SRB and other RICS Governance bodies.

The PSSG is chaired by Richard Waterhouse FRICS and composed of four independent members, who will bring a range of diverse knowledge, skills, experiences, and culture to the work of the Steering Group and in line with RICS’ vision.

The SRB continues to seek an economist member to join the PSSG.

The recruitment for SRB members is being supported externally by Gatenby Sanderson and further details about these positions can be found at Standards and Regulation Board Vacancies.
