Applying for readmission

Please complete the relevant readmission form at the top of this page.

If you were previously registered with the Valuer Registration Scheme (VRS), you must reapply separately via your online RICS account.

The reinstatement process typically takes 10 working days from the date we receive payment. To avoid delays, ensure your reinstatement form is complete and accurate.

You'll receive updates at key stages:

  1. Application received and reviewed
  2. Payment request issued (within 2 working days of submitting a complete application)
  3. Regulatory checks completed
  4. Membership reinstated and confirmation sent

If any information is missing or incorrect, or there are any issues with your reinstatement application, we’ll contact you by phone or email, which may extend the processing time.

Yes, your membership grade or candidate status will remain the same after successful reinstatement.

Typically, you won’t need to retake an assessment or interview to reinstate your RICS membership. However, if you’ve been away for an extended period, RICS will review your application to confirm you still meet current professional standards.

Applications submitted and paid:

  • before 1 October: You will pay the current year’s renewal fee as part of reinstatement, then the following year’s renewal fee on 1 January.
  • after 1 October: Your payment will cover renewal fees from October of the current year through December of the following year.

Yes, you must reapply for VRS after your reinstatement. To do this, log in to your RICS account and go to the Regulation section. For help, contact regulation@rics.org.

Important: Conducting valuation work without VRS may lead to a regulatory investigation.

Your membership may have been removed for one of the following reasons:

  • Non-payment of fees: Failure to pay annual subscription fees can result in termination.
  • Resignation: Members may voluntarily resign from their membership.
  • Disciplinary action: Breaches of RICS standards or professional misconduct can lead to expulsion.


Can I appeal?

  • Non-payment or resignation: There is no appeal process for membership removal due to non-payment or voluntary resignation. To rejoin RICS, complete the readmission form.
  • Disciplinary action: If you were expelled due to disciplinary reasons, you may have the right to appeal. The process and eligibility criteria are outlined in the RICS Disciplinary, Registration, and Appeal Panel Rules.

You may apply for reinstatement, but approval is at RICS’s discretion. Your application will be reviewed based on:

  • The nature of the misconduct
  • The time elapsed since expulsion
  • Any corrective actions or rehabilitation efforts


Reinstatement is not guaranteed.

If your reinstatement application is declined, you will receive written notification detailing the reasons for the decision.

  • You may have the right to appeal, as outlined in the RICS Regulatory Tribunal Rules.
  • Before reapplying, it’s recommended that you address the reasons for refusal.
