Richard Asher FRICS

Richard AsherRichard Asher is a Director in the Development Department and Head of Compulsory Purchase and Compensation for Savills.

Richard trained with the general practice firm of Edward Bailey and Son of Newark, Nottinghamshire. He was a partner in the firm of Lyall and Co of Peterborough, before joining the Crown Estate. He also spent over twenty years at Jones Lang Wootton and Jones Lang LaSalle, before joining Savills. Richard is a Former Chairman of the RICS Compulsory Purchase & Compensation Policy Panel; a founding member and former Chair of the Compulsory Purchase Association; former Chair of the RICS Planning & DevelopmentProfessional Board; Member of the British Property Federation Technical Planning Committee; and of the National Infrastructure Planning Association.

He is currently involved advising a wide range of clients on the land and property acquisition aspects of a wide range of development schemes. He is married with three grown up children.

James Baker MRICS

James BakerJames is a Chartered Building Surveyor currently working at Faithful+Gould within their Nottingham office specialising in professional building surveying services largely within the private sector. Having spent a number of years on his local Matrics Committee in Derbyshire culminating in two years as Chairman he joined the RICS Matrics UK Board two years ago.

He has recently been voted as the RICS Matrics Chairman Elect and took up the post of Chairman on June 19th for the 2015-16 session. Being so actively involved with Matrics on both a local level and more recently at national level he felt he was best placed to represent the RICS Matrics membership on Governing Council and is delighted to have been successfully elected.

Dayle Bayliss FRICS

Dayle is the owner of Dayle Bayliss Associates a Project Management and Surveying practice based in Suffolk.  She is a member of the RICS matrics UK Board.  A keen interest in skills and enterprise, Dayle is on the New Anglia LEP Skills Board, the skills lead for the LEP construction sector group Building Growth and chair of the Suffolk Skills Show.  She is actively involved in the Suffolk business community, including Vice Chair of the Suffolk Enterprise Agency, Menta, and a board member of the Suffolk Chamber Suffolk Business Women Group.  Dayle is also a Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for Lionheart. 

She has an interest in historic buildings and has an MSc in Building Conservation, and is treasure for the Suffolk SPAB group.  She is also a Chartered Management Consultant.

Rebecca Best FRICS

Rebecca Best MRICSRebecca is a Partner at Rider Levett Bucknall, an independent, global property and construction practice with offices around the world.

Based in London, she is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with 19 years industry experience primarily in the commercial sector. One of her present responsibilities is driving best practice within the UK business. 

Rebecca has been an active contributor to RICS for 14 years, passionate in enthusing the next generation to shape the Institution of the future. She is an elected member of the RICS UK and Ireland World Regional Board. She has previosly been Chair of RICS Matrics UK Board in 2012-13, Chair of RICS Greater Manchester Quantity Surveying and Construction Professional Group and Chair of RICS Matrics Manchester.

Chris Brooke FRICS - President Elect

Chris BrookeChris Brooke FRICS took office as RICS President Elect on 7 November 2017.

Chris is the Managing Director of Brooke Husband Limited, a consulting firm based in Hong Kong which provides strategic market insight, development consulting and investment advisory services to real estate owners, developers and investors throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Chris has 27 years of experience in various fields of the property industry. Between 2013 and the end of 2015, he was the Executive Managing Director, Consulting, Asia Pacific at CBRE, a role which involved the strategic oversight of all of the consulting and advisory work undertaken by CBRE throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Chris has also been Chairman of the RICS Asia World Regional Board since 2010.

Alan Child FRICS

Alan ChildAlan Child is the Chairman of Knight Frank Hong Kong. He is a Chartered Surveyor with over 40 years’ experience in the property markets of the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and China.

Alan has worked in both the government and private sectors in Hong Kong where he has been based for over 35 years. He specialises in areas of land resumption, development and management and was Land Advisor for the acquisition and development of land for Hong Kong’s rail expansion programme. Alan acts as an Independent Expert Surveyor and has worked on numerous development consultancy projects and studies as well as providing advice on feasibility assessments, land grants, lease modifications, rating & valuation and aspects of due diligence for public and private funds.

Alan is a Fellow of RICS, a Member of the RICS Asia World Regional Board, an RICS Registered Valuer and RICS Hong Kong Registered Expert on Land Matters.

Bruno Cohen FRICS

Bruno CohenBruno is General Manager of PATRIZIA France and Belgium, and a Managing Director and member of the Executive Committee of PATRIZIA Group, a leading fully integrated real estate services company in Europe with EUR14 billion AUM .

Bruno held various board and senior management positions in his 25 years of experience, including: CIO and Head of Transactions of CBRE Global Investors France, CEO Europe and MD at Broadway Partners, co-Head of investments at AEW Europe, and CEO France and MD at Tishman Speyer.

Natalie Cohen MRICS

Natalie CohenNatalie began her property career in the United Kingdom in 2006, moving onto various areas within the property sector including compulsory purchase and compensation for utility providers, general practice surveying and valuation. This has provided her with a broad based knowledge of the property industry.

Natalie has been with Herron Todd White since 2010 in a variety of roles, initially as National Researcher and assisting on the site valuations of major shopping centres throughout Queensland. She relocated to the Melbourne office as a commercial valuer before commencing a new role in January 2013 as National Manager, Non Residential. She is responsible for the development and implementation of commercial valuations tools, systems and procedures, which ensures uniformity and efficiency, setting the standards within the Divisions, through building engagement with stakeholders (internal and external) in a collaborative manner.

She has been Vice Chair of the RICS VIC/TAS Committee and Chair of Matrics.

Diane Dumashie FRICS

Diane DumashieOperating at director level, Diane has in-depth knowledge of commerce with expertise across a range of property types. After a career in the corporate sector, she established an independent practice in 1999, leading on many large and complex development projects

Diane has senior responsibilities with FIG, an International land professional MGO. Having served two terms as the elected Chairman for Commission 8 (planning and economic development), she is now the elected Chair of the International Task Force focusing on Africa, providing the leadership to stimulate global collaboration and building stakeholder relationships at global donor agencies and multi-national corporations. She is also the current chairperson of the UK delegation to FIG.

Nicola George MRICS

Nicola is a Chartered Project Management surveyor and currently a Senior Project Manager within AECOM, a professional engineering, consulting and project management services for infrastructure projects with offices worldwide. She has over 10 year’s industry experiences in various sectors. As a Project Manager she's keen to drive best practice within the profession and within her business. She's also a member of the Association for Project Management.

She has been actively involved with the RICS for over 7 years, as Chair of Manchester Matrics, APC mentor and APC assessor. Nicola also supports the graduates within Aecom towards achieving chartered status and promotes RICS as a route to gain professional status.

She's passionate about the future of the next generation and how RICS professionals can shape the institution in the future. She aims to contribute to the overall strategy of the RICS.

Ann Gray FRICS

Ann GrayAnn E Gray FRICS, FAIA is both a licensed architect and real estate broker based in Los Angeles, California. In 1995, she established Gray Real Estate Advisors providing consulting services to investors, property owners, and attorneys to optimise values of complex properties. Over the course of her career she has been involved in nearly a billion dollars in high-quality commercial and institutional development.

Previously, Ann directed corporate real estate at Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, where she oversaw property acquisition, master planning, architecture and construction of corporate and production facilities. During her tenure, the studio underwent technical upgrades, launched historic preservation strategies, and initiated sustainability standards. Prior to Viacom, Ann was VP Development at Indivest, a private commercial developer. Ann holds a BA in Applied Mathematics and a Master of Architecture both from UCLA.

John Hughes FRICS - RICS President

John HughesJohn Hughes FRICS took office as RICS President 7 November 2017.

John Hughes was the Chair of RICS in Americas from 2013-2016. A member of Governing Council, he chaired its Strategy Group for 2015-16. His involvement with other RICS boards and committees goes back many years.

John is based in Toronto, Canada, and is a founding partner of Hemson Consulting Ltd. For clients mainly in the public sector, the firm provides a wide range of advice regarding urban and regional urban growth management issues including demographics, land use planning and development and municipal finance.

His tenure as President ends: 2018

Julian Josephs FRICS

Julian JosephsJulian Josephs FRICS has been active in International Real Estate since 1973. He first worked for Jones Lang Wootton in London before moving to their Brussels and Antwerp offices in Belgium. He then joined Hampton & Sons, Paris in 1974, where he oversaw the marketing of their clients’ commercial French developments before studying at INSEAD, France and graduating from their trilingual MBA class in 1977.

In August 1977, he moved to New York, before joining Romanek Golub in Chicago in November, three months later, to work with foreign investors buying US real estate. In November 1980 he set up Julian Josephs Company in Washington DC, initially acting for overseas investors in developing 5 downtown office properties. He has since developed his own real estate portfolio of mixed use properties, with a focus on retail, as well as advising international clients.

Having served FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation, in many roles since 1974, he was elected World President 2007-8. During the last 20 years, he has been an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins, Georgetown and George Mason Universities’ Graduate Programs, teaching International Real Estate with over 800 students graduating from his classes and remains a mentor to many. He has lectured at the UN in Geneva, many universities and real estate events around the world and is a member of AFIRE and ICSC, as well being a frequent attendee and speaker at MIPIM, MAPIC and ExpoReal. He was elected a member of RICS’s Americas Board in 2013.

Gerhard Kemper FRICS

Gerhard KemperGerhard, a chartered surveyor since 1996, studied business in Canada and worked in Canada and the US in various executive positions. After his return to Germany in 1990 he managed the Kemper’s group, the leading agent/broker for
retail property in Germany.

After selling the company to Jones Lang LaSalle in 2008 he teaches at the HAWK University of applied Sciences and Arts in Germany as an Honorary Professor on the subjects of retail properties, shopping centers, real estate brokerage and business strategy. He also manages the consulting company GEKA KEMPER GmbH and serves on the non-executive board of RICS in Germany. He is married with two children and enjoys golf, jogging, and choir singing.

Amy Leader MRICS

Amy Leader is a Principal Growth Officer working for St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Bury St Edmunds, working on strategic development opportunities from inception through to delivery. Amy is Chartered Building Surveyor that has specialised Programme and Project Management.

Since becoming an active member of the RICS Matrics in 2009 she has worked hard to raise the profile of the RICS, to inspire the next generation and to engage with future talent coming into surveying. With this passion and drive she continued on to become Chair of RICS Matrics in Essex and Suffolk before progressing onto the national board of the RICS Matrics where she was Chair of the National RICS Matrics during 2016-17.

Amy has also represented the RICS East of England from 2013-16 and has been a Judge for the East of England Awards since 2011.

Jon Lever FRICS

Jon LeverJon qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 1995 and has worked for a number of main contractors and surveying firms. Jon has been the Managing Director of DeLever since 2001 and an RICS Fellow since 2005.

Jon has been heavily involved in RICS for over 20 years from RICS matrics International Committee where he was awarded a prize for exemplary commitment, through to RICS Regulatory Board and RICS Ethics Sub-Committee in more recent years. Jon is a RICS UK Training Advisor and RICS UK Licensed Assessor Trainer having trained over 5000 members to become APC Auditors, Chairs and Assessors since 2006. Jon has also been an APC Chairman and Assessor since 1998.

Jon is an advocate of RICS and extremely keen to promote RICS values around the world through his involvement with RICS, RICS members, RICS matrics, trainees and students at a grass roots level.

Peter Smith FRICS

Peter SmithPeter M. Smith FRICS has over thirty years of experience in the property tax field (rating) in the US, serving clients in both real property and business personal property tax engagements. He has represented national and international clients with a wide array of properties including complex industrial, hotels, multi-family, sports venues, resort properties, golf courses, telecommunications, hi-tech companies and retail.

In his current capacity as the West Region Director of property tax he works exclusively in the ad valorem tax area, providing consulting and compliance services for clients in both real estate and personal property taxes in the Western States and Hawaii.

Ramsey Tadros FRICS

Ramsey TadrosRamsey is an Australian national who has been living and working in Brazil for over twenty years. He has over thirty years’ experience in the Real Estate profession having commenced his career with Jones Lang Wootton in 1981 in Sydney, Australia.

Ramsey holds an Associate Diploma in Real Estate Valuation from Sydney Institute and an MBA from the Brazilian Capital Markets Institute. He is a Fellow of RICS, Country Chairman RICS – Brazil, member of the RICS Global Governing Council and a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute.

Marna van der Walt FRICS

Marna van der WaltIndustry leader Marna, CEO of Excellerate Property Services, is the second woman ever (in 2007) appointed president of the SA Property Owners Association (SAPOA). A Chartered Accountant, she is a board member of SAPOA, the Property Charter Council and the South African Council of Shopping Centres.
