Changes to the Qatar Board

We are pleased to announce the appointment of a number of members to the Qatar board. The board consists of nine members from diverse backgrounds, who are committed to building on the success of RICS in the region and strengthening the brand in the marketplace.

All board members were appointed following a recruitment and selection process advertised on rics.org, and communicated to members through the monthly regional email updates. The board has RICS representation from Robert Jackson, regional director for the MENA region, and the other board members include:

Matthew de Pear Brown: vice-chair

An Associate Director at Aecom, Matthew currently works with the Cost and Programme Management team in Doha, Qatar. Previously he has been the Senior Management team at Faithful + Gould in Qatar, acting as Head of Cost and Commercial Services in the Country.

Robert Kidd, MRICS

Robert is an Associate at AECOM, and part of the senior leadership team. He has been in Qatar since 2011, and previously worked in the UK. He is a chairman for the APC and also sits on the RICS APC Standard Committee.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and is an Accredited RICS Mediator.

Rudo Melissa Zhanda, MRICS

Rudo has 10 years’ experience in the construction industry, having achieved professional status in both Quantity Surveying and Project Management. She is currently working as a Project Manager at Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in Qatar, where she is leading a team in the Supply Chain Management and Logistics Department to successfully deliver contractual agreements between the Client Organization, its Contractors and the strategic Suppliers of primary materials.

Mark Milligan, MRICS

Mark Milligan is an exceptional, technical RICS chartered professional with over 20 year’s real estate experience in the UK, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar. He has a proven track record of achieving exemplary levels of service within Facilities and Asset Management sectors on a number of prestigious projects across the GCC.

Mark currently provides strategic consultancy advice on Facility Management (FM) matters across all Supreme Committee delivered venues for the 2022 FIFA World Cup including all relevant disciplines from inception through to mobilisation to ensure that the new venues for the World Cup are constructed and maintained to the highest international standards.

Lalantha Amarasekera, FRICS

Mr. Lalantha Amarasekera has over 20 years of experience and he is qualified in the fields of Quantity Surveying and Project Management. He holds three fellow memberships in prestigious professional bodies namely RICS, AIQS (Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors), and IQS.SL (Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Sri Lanka). 

Chea Diong, MRICS

Chea Diong, is currently the Marubeni Corp Qatar Commercial Manager. Joined Marubeni Corp Qatar in 2007. Chea oversees the continued growth and expansion of the company involvement in the water business both regionally and internationally. He has worked and hold senior positions in many projects internationally and had been board member of numerous companies prior to joining Marubeni.

Shawkat Abbas, FRICS

With extensive experience as a Claims and Contractors Director at Driver Group, Shawkat has  been involved in various projects, in both; the KSA and the UAE, covering a wide span of market sectors such as residential, hotels, infrastructure, commercial and industrial.

He has a Bachelors in Civil Engineering, MSc in Construction Law and Arbitration, a MSc in Project Management, accompanied with being a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb)
