Sustainable Farming Incentive 2026 - Request for Tenant Data Insights

RICS is represented on the Farm Tenancy Forum. We have been asked by Defra to provide assistance in terms of understanding the potential impact on tenants of the constraints of the first past the post application system for SFI 2026. Defra does not currently collect this data but has acknowledged that it is of vital importance and is seeking to put systems in place to enable it to collect relevant data going forward.

Did your firm submit applications for SFI 2026 on behalf of your clients?

If so, it would be very helpful if you could answer the questions below to enable RICS to collate a response to Defra. The numbers should be provided on a per firm basis and the reference to “tenants” includes farm businesses with a mix of tenures that includes land held on an AHA or ATA tenancy.

Please liaise with colleagues to ensure that there is only one response per firm, or, if the information is held on an office-by-office basis, then please ensure there is only one response per office.
