RICS’ Global Quarterly Performance reports are intended to give professionals, interested stakeholders, governing council and employees a high-level overview of the organisation’s operational performance every quarter. They are an important element of our commitment to transparency, supplementing annual opportunities to hear about RICS’ performance including the Annual Review and AGM.

This report covers RICS’ performance from October to December 2023. It highlights the continued progress towards strategic objectives, developments on standards, thought leadership, membership and corporate performance.

During this period, RICS saw the appointment of Nigel Clarke as the permanent Chair of RICS’ Standards and Regulation Board. Following the announcement of Simon Rawlinson as Knowledge and Practice Committee Chair, we successfully appointed seven more members of the committee, including a Vice Chair and six Professional Group Panel (PGP) chairs.

RICS was an official observer at COP28 which was also an opportunity to promote RICS’ Whole Life Carbon Assessment standard (second edition) launched in Q3.

Some of the RICS performance highlights in Q4 2023 are:

  • 2,201 new candidate enrolments (up 25%)
  • 12,723 viewers for digital seminars and CPD webinars (up 80%)
  • 17,000 visitors to RICS World Built Environment Forum
  • 2,296 professional assessments delivered


Member Engagement activity

The fourth quarter displayed a continuing increase in activity across all key markets building on the recommendations and initiatives of the Membership Services Committee (MSC) that drive improvement in member engagement, and the value members gain from their membership.

Member engagement highlights in Q4 2023 include:

  • Around 3,147 (up 36%) members attended networking events in 28 countries
  • 2,293 members (up 50%) joined global and regional conferences
  • 74  free face-to-face networking events (up 20%) held globally
  • 2,803 members (up 47%) attended free CPD member engagement webinars


UK and Ireland Matrics activity

Engaging with the next generation of surveyors continues to be a top priority with the push to build support networks and ensuring it is more accessible, inclusive and modern for all members participatingOctober we celebrated the tenth annual RICS Matrics Surveyor Awards, acknowledging the commitment to the highest standards of professionalism amongst our Matrics members.

UK and Ireland Matrics highlights in Q4 include:

  • 55 Matrics events delivered across the UK
  • £2,011 raised in events to support Lionheart
  • 1,680 Matrics members attended events
