James is a Chartered Building Surveyor working throughout the East Midlands and UK with extensive experience in a number of sectors including leisure & hotels, retail, commercial, housing, emergency services, education, residential and health. He is Founder and Managing Director at Invise Limited based in Derby, offering Building Surveying, Project Management and Cost Management Services. A Fellow of RICS and an active RICS Member having held the following roles: RICS Matrics UK Chairman from 2015-16 and a Board member prior to that, RICS Governing Council member 2015-19, RICS East Midlands Regional Board Chairman from 2017-19 and Board member prior to holding that role; finally James is also an APC Assessor for the Building Surveying and Project Management Pathways. James has also recently joined the editorial advisory group for the RICS Built Environment journal and has been a judge for the RICS Awards for the past few years. Carolyn Brady is Partner and regional lead for RLB’s Northern Ireland office. Having joined RLB’s Manchester office in 2017, Carolyn relocated back to Belfast in 2020 to open RLB’s first office, growing from a team of 1, to a team of 17 across all core service. A Chartered Building Surveyor by background, Carolyn has extensive experience across multiple sectors, including education, retail, commercial and public and civic delivering a range of service solutions including strategic asset management, project delivery and professional services. Carolyn is a non-executive member of RICS Regional Board in Northern Ireland, an RICS APC Assessor and an active STEM ambassador. Carolyn was crowned RICS Matrics Surveyor of the Year 2023 and Building Surveyor/Control Surveyor of the Year in our Matrics Awards last year. Carolyn also received the Property Professional of the Year 2022 Award at the PropertyPal Award and Young Property Professional and the Year 2023 at the Belfast Telegraph Awards.

Lucy is one of the founding directors of Larch Consulting and is the Managing Director of the company. She has over 25 years’ experience in advising organisations on all aspects of FM strategy and delivery and is considered one of the UK’s experts in the field. She has led FM review and implementation programmes for a wide range of well-known organisations from sectors including retail, leisure, finance, science, universities, local authorities, government departments and charities. She was part of the team that developed the Workplace Management Framework. Lucy is a previous deputy chair of IWFM and is judge for the Technology in FM awards. She has been voted by her peers as a Pioneer of FM and one of the 20 Most Influential Women in FM. She is founder of the Women in FM network, and set up FM’s first peer-to-peer mentoring programme.

Prior to joining Valesco, Luke worked for Cadogan, one of London’s Great Estates, owning over 90-acres of prime Central London. During his tenure at Cadogan, Luke led on strategy, investment and asset management for a mixed-use portfolio valued at ~£0.5bn, comprising over 100 leases across asset classes including offices, retail and hospitality. He also holds an MSt Real Estate from the University of Cambridge. Luke was previously Chair and Vice Chair of the RICS Matrics London committee and now sits on the RICS Matrics UK Board. Luke was also our Commercial Property Surveyor of the Year 2024. Additionally, he acts as a mentor for the Patchwork Foundation Charity and the Cambridge University Land Society. Through these platforms, he is eager to support the next generation of surveyors, with a wealth of learnings, connections, and experience to share.

Poppy is an Associate Director at Savills, specialising in rural practice and more specifically, estate management. She has been with Savills for eight years, having joined directly with a degree in Rural Land Management from the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester (formerly Royal Agricultural College). She has a wide range of experience in asset management for private landowners, corporate bodies, public bodies, trusts and charities, encompassing all aspects of a rural property portfolio. She prides herself on her innovative outlook and approachable demeanour. Poppy grew up in Somerset and continues to live between the Mendip Hills and the Somerset Levels. In her spare time Poppy enjoys taking part in country pursuits, socialising, watching sports and cooking. A former winner of the Land (Rural and Urban) category at the RICS Surveyor Awards, an Matrics committee member and a new judge to the awards; Poppy is well placed to be a judge.

She has been a member of the firm since 2010 and specialises in conducting statutory and capital valuations of residential properties across Prime Central and Greater London. Vanessa advises landlords and tenants on leasehold reform matters and undertakes valuations in connection with negligence claims, as a Single Joint Expert for matrimonial disputes and other valuations where expert witness services are required. Vanessa is an RICS Isurv author for Enfranchisement valuations and an APC Assessor. She has also been an APC Mentor to candidates for the Residential pathway since 2012. Additionally, she volunteers for Inspiring the Future; a charity connecting workplace volunteers from all industries with schools and colleges.

A passionate and detail-driven residential surveyor, Christopher Moran is the Founder and Director of Moran Residential Surveying, a RICS-regulated firm based in Sheffield. Christopher is a RICS Ambassador and Matrics Committee member, actively involved in championing the profession and engaging the next generation of surveyors. He is especially committed to promoting diversity and inclusion within the industry, using his platform to mentor under-represented candidates and contribute to outreach and education initiatives. In 2024, Christopher was honoured with the RICS Matrics Residential Surveyor of the Year Award, recognising his excellence in client service, dedication to the industry and innovation in practice.

Roy is currently employed as a Technical Lead Surveyor at the Valuation Office Agency as part of the Wales and West team where he joined the Check, Challenge team in 2020 post qualification and his role focuses on Check, Challenge Appeal on non-domestic rates providing technical advice to colleagues across the network.. The Non-domestic Rating (NDR) Directorate is responsible for NDR functions. The directorate also develops and implements strategy and policy across all aspects of NDR and is responsible for the maintenance of the rating list and the development of its use. It also drives quality and consistency through improved processes and supports local billing authorities that collect NDR rates. He was part of the first cohort to become qualified in May 2020 via the online assessment and the first one to be qualified through the apprenticeship scheme at the Valuation Office Agency. Roy currently sits on the Qualification Assessment Committee and is also an assessor and trained chair.

Simon has a strong background in research, knowledge and collaborative innovation focused mainly on the construction sector. Simon is a Senior Leader in Arcadis, a leading multi-disciplinary design, engineering and consulting practice in the built and natural environment. He heads Strategic Research and Insight, with global and UK-focused accountabilities. Simon has over 25 years’ experience in construction and built environment research and innovation with a particular focus is on construction markets, pricing behaviour and risk. He believes that knowledge and data are a major differentiator for the surveying profession and brings this passion to KPC. Simon has worked with a large portfolio of national and international clients in property and infrastructure. As part of his commitment to performance improvement and innovation, Simon has been closely involved in many successful pan-industry initiatives including the UK Government BIM Task Group and the Construction Leadership Council. Ruth also holds the position of Examinations Convenor for the Midland Counties Agricultural Valuers' Association, and is an examiner for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. As a previous winner of the RICS Matrics Mentor of the Year, former principal surveyor with the Government’s Property Services Agency responsible for the Royal Parks and Palaces, joint owner and main board director of Rogers Chapman, European Director of JLL, and Principal lecturer and pathway leader at the University of Westminster, Mike brings a wealth of experience to his role as a consultant at Cushman and Wakefield, where he mentors APC graduates and apprentices. Additionally, he is one of the longest-serving APC assessors and auditors and serves on the RICS University accreditation panel.

Antonia has had 46 years’ experience in the construction and property industries and led her own business that she formed in 2007, until she retired in June 2021. Transitioning in 2000/2003 in a very male dominated working environment, where there was no history of or visible LGBT influences to draw on, she presses for positive change for LGBT+ good in society. A Board Director of the Chartered Surveyors Training Trust, Diversity Role Models, Terrence Higgins Trust, Queer Britain, Not A Phase, and a Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors, and advisor to other organisations she particularly seeks equal opportunities for Women/LGBT+ within the Construction Industry, which has of course been a side of business generally slow to react to such. She was shortlisted in 2017 for the Gay Times ‘Success in Entrepreneurship’ Gary Frisch award and in 2018 nominated in the NatWest British LGBT Awards – Inspiration Leader category, and nominated amongst a group of “exceptional surveyors from The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)” to celebrate their 150th Anniversary, showcasing significant and positive impact that surveyors have made to society through those 150 years. In 2022, she was awarded an OBE by the late Queen, for services to Equality in Business which she received from King Charles III.

Dayle is a former Matrics UK and Ireland board member and chair of Suffolk Matrics board. She has served on Governing Council and a former Trustee for Lionheart. She has experienced first hand the impact that the Matrics awards has on the individuals shortlisted and the winners of each category, having been on the Matrics board when the first awards were introduced 11 years ago. Dayle is Chartered Building Surveyor and Project Manager where she has run her own practice for 13 years. She is a former Board Member of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education and prior to this she was the panel Chair developing the new T Level for Construction: Design, Surveying and Planning. She is also Vice Chair of the board for Orwell Housing Association and Chair of Orwell Homes.

Lauren Lemcke MRICS is a Chartered Senior Quantity Surveyor at AECOM, specialising in commercial fit-out projects in London. She began her career in the construction industry in 2019 and has a strong interest in sustainability construction. At AECOM, she is a key figure in driving the integration of cost and carbon advisory services, leading the firm’s efforts toward more sustainable project outcomes. Lauren was named RICS Matrics Surveyor of the Year 2024 and Quantity Surveyor of the Year in the Matrics Awards last year. In 2024, she was also named Quantity Surveyor of the Year at the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards. Lauren currently serves on the RICS Matrics UK Board and is the Regional Chair for London and the South East, mentoring future chartered surveyors and promoting professional development across the industry.
