Overview

There is no doubt that recent developments in computing, generally summarised as AI, are bringing significant changes to our lives.

This is not a lecture intended to just sell the benefits of AI.  Our focus will be a more nuanced assessment of the risks and opportunities so that we can make informed decisions about when to make use of AI tools and be aware of instances where we may be using AI or ‘big data’ without even realising it.

This talk should be timely and useful to all surveyors. The new CPD framework introduced an obligation to undertake CPD on the mandatory topic of Data, AI and technology. Furthermore, the new professional standard on the responsible use of AI in surveying goes live on 9 March 2026. This talk is intended to help surveyors understand these issues and comply with the standard and meet their CPD obligations.
