Overview

The RICS Profession Support and Assurance team runs free online workshops for regulated firms. Our “What Does It Mean to Be Regulated by RICS?” session provides an overview of key regulatory requirements and common areas of non‑compliance.

This workshop is open to all RICS‑regulated firms, but will be of particular benefit to those that have recently registered, offering a clear, practical walkthrough of the regulatory framework, your core responsibilities, and the issues that most frequently lead to non‑compliance.

Each workshop provides 2 hours of structured CPD. Run times may vary slightly, but this allowance ensures ample time for presentation content, discussion, and a comprehensive Q&A segment – giving you the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance directly from the RICS Regulation team.

What the Workshop Covers

During the session, we will walk through the core requirements for all regulated firms, including:

  • Key RICS Rules for Regulated Firms
  • Eligibility for RICS Regulation & ongoing obligations
  • RICS Rules of Conduct
  • Complaints Handling Procedure (CHP) & maintaining a complaints log
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance requirements
  • Arrangements for the incapacity or death of a sole principal
  • Correct use of the RICS logo and designations
  • Professional competence and CPD expectations
  • Managing conflicts of interest
  • Other regulatory obligations all firms must meet
  • Overview of RICS regulatory schemes, reviews, and other workshops available
