RICS Matrics Edinburgh: Site visit – Wester Hailes High School

Overview

Minimum, mandatory PPE for entry to this project is five-point PPE: safety hard hat, safety glasses, safety gloves, safety boots and hi-vis vest. Attendees must bring their own PPE. 

RICS Matrics Edinburgh is delighted to invite members to an exclusive site visit of the new Wester Hailes High School development, hosted in partnership with McLaughlin & Harvey. 

This visit offers a unique opportunity to explore one of Edinburgh's significant education projects currently under construction. The redevelopment of Wester Hailes High School is being delivered as part of the City of Edinburgh Council's wider investment in the learning estate and will provide a modern, sustainable campus for approximately 800 pupils. 

The project includes the refurbishment of the sports and community facilities and the construction of a new four-storey teaching building, which will replace the existing teaching blocks and complete the transformation of the school campus. 

The project is being designed and constructed to the Passivhaus standard, delivering high levels of energy efficiency, sustainability and occupant comfort. During the visit, attendees will gain insight into the project's design, construction challenges, sustainability objectives and overall delivery strategy from the project team. 

This promises to be an engaging and informative event for surveyors, construction professionals and students interested in seeing a major educational development at an important stage of construction.
