Overview

Join RICS Matrics Glasgow and KSN Project Management (KSNPM) for an exclusive site visit to a live restoration project, providing a practical insight into the conservation and repair of a Category B-listed traditional property.

Hosted by KSNPM and the project team, the visit will explore how building surveying, project management and conservation come together in practice, from assessing the existing fabric of a historic building and developing appropriate repair proposals through to overseeing conservation works on site. Attendees will also hear about the involvement of Glasgow City Heritage Trust and the important role that grant funding and conservation requirements can play in bringing historic buildings back into good repair.

The session will include a practical Scotch slate and leadwork demonstration, providing an opportunity to see traditional roofing techniques and materials first-hand. This will be followed by a guided scaffolding tour to view the restoration works at close quarters.

It offers Matrics members a valuable opportunity to gain practical insight into building surveying and heritage conservation, while networking with fellow professionals.

Registration is essential. Places are limited; if you register and can no longer attend, please get in touch with sarah.howie@nmrk.com.

Photographs may be taken at this event. If you do not wish to be photographed, please make the Matrics host and/or photographer aware.

Important site requirements

Anyone wishing to participate in the scaffolding tour must be over 18 and bring appropriate PPE, including a hard hat, hi-vis vest and steel-toe-cap safety boots.
