RICS Seminar in Hong Kong ‘Understanding the Land (Compulsory Sale for Redevelopment) (Amendment) Ordinance 2024 through case studies’

Overview

The Land (Compulsory Sale for Redevelopment) (Amendment) Ordinance 2024 came into effect on 6 December 2024. This amendment ordinance aims to expedite the redevelopment of old and dilapidated buildings by the private sector, address safety hazards of buildings, and improve the living environment for residents.

In this seminar, the presentation will go through the key changes introduced by the amendment ordinance. The session will include case study illustrations and focus on the new mechanisms for facilitating multiple lot applications, which may be challenging to grasp solely from the written provisions. Through a simulated comparative analysis based on several real-life cases, the speakers will illustrate the effects of the amendment ordinance in facilitating multiple lot applications before and after the amendment ordinance was passed.
