In a world teetering on the brink of climate catastrophe, the imperative for change to combat carbon emissions has never been more pressing. The fate of our planet hangs in the balance, demanding immediate and concerted efforts to avert environmental crisis. But how do we ensure every individual and every business commits to delivering effective green IT initiatives.
Overview
We are delighted to establish a new collaboration with BCS (who are the Chartered Institute of British Computer Science)
This course examines sustainable practices and the internal and external drivers in the information and communication technology industry. We will discuss the importance of green policies, the need for carbon reduction plans, the standards to meet, e-waste reduction policies and the ICT industry’s carbon footprint.
Course content
External and internal drivers
- Explore the possible drivers of Green IT and the difference between sustainable practices and greenwashing.
Green IT Policy
- Delve into an example green policy and learn how to reduce E-waste and create a carbon reduction plan.
ICT Contribution to carbon footprint
- Learn how ICT impact the environment and how this can be measured.
This course is aimed at those with a further personal stake in polices and making larger departmental changes.
