Overview

We are delighted to announce the return of the RICS Global Sustainability Conference in 2026. With a focus on biodiversity, this year’s conference brings together professionals from across the built and natural environment sectors for a full day of insight, collaboration, and practical learning on how nature-positive sustainability practices can be embedded across the property lifecycle.

The event will bring together leading minds in climate adaptation, natural hazard planning, and ecological stewardship. As our planet experiences climate shifts, the role of surveyors in ensuring the nature-positive impacts of their projects has never been more vital. Through new technologies, data-driven planning, and strategies for cross-industry collaboration, we can design and maintain infrastructure that protects both people and ecosystems.

Sustainability in Action: Share your story

Sustainability is already shaping the way professionals across the built and natural environment carry out their work every day. At this year’s Global Sustainability Conference, we want to shine a light on the practical steps RICS members are taking to turn sustainability into action. We are inviting you to submit short Sustainability in Action stories that show how sustainability principles have been applied in your work.

Your example might include:

Initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, strengthen climate resilience, protect biodiversity, or embed circular economy principles in projects and professional practice.

This does not need to be a formal case study or academic paper. We are simply looking for short examples of what you did, what impact it made and what you learned

Selected stories will be developed into short video features and showcased during the Sustainability in Action session at the conference.

Additional submissions may also be included in post-conference resources to help other professionals learn from your experience.

What to expect

Submitting your story should take around 10 minutes.

We will ask you to briefly describe:

  • The sustainability challenge or opportunity you encountered
  • The action you took
  • What changed as a result
  • One key insight or lesson

Submission deadline: 1 September 2026
