Encouraging people from all walks of life and backgrounds to consider building control surveying as a career.
RICS was absolutely delighted to take part in the Melbourne Careers Expo along with the Building and Plumbing Commission and the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors to help shine a bright light on building control surveying as a wonderful profession that offers exciting opportunities to those considering a career as a construction professional.
This was an excellent opportunity to engage with people from all walks of life, including secondary school students, tradespeople and people who are considering a mid-life career change.
Building control surveyors need to have a range of skills including a strong technical understanding, knowledge of building codes and laws and great communication skills, along with a strong ethical approach to be successful. This is due to their role as a public official who ensures buildings are safe and built to building code requirements.
Our special thanks, as always, to Stuart Brown MRICS, Paul Mulholland MRICS and Veluppillai Nandacumaran MRICS for flying the RICS flag so proudly, and all the RICS members for dropping by to say hello.
