RICS was pleased to take part in the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF) November 2025 meeting in Parliament House this week and help celebrate ACIF's 25th anniversary alongside other key construction peak bodies including Australasian Procurement & Construction Council Inc (APCC), Consult Australia, Association of Consulting Architects, Surveyors Australia, Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Australian Institute of Architects, Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC), Master Electricians Australia and the National Association of Women in Construction.
The meeting provided ACIF members with the opportunity to engage with key government ministers and shadow ministers for the built environment including Clare O'Neil Minister for Housing, Homelessness and Cities, Andrew Leigh MP, the Hon. Ed Husic MP, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Catherine King, the Hon. Dr. Anne Aly, Senator Matt O'Sullivan, the Hon Bridget McKenzie and Shadow Minister for Industry and Innovation Alex Hawke MP.
This was an important opportunity to speak about the challenges that we are facing in terms of shortages of surveyors and what government can do to help address this issue as well as get a key understanding of the shared challenges facing peak bodies as we seek to work together to solve key societal issues including how to deliver the nation's housing and infrastructure needs and targets.
