Overview

Coventry Charterhouse started as a medieval monastic house and is now a Grade I listed National Trust property with acres of grounds to explore. Having recently been made more accessible for guests, the property welcomed 18,000 visitors in the first year of National Trust management. Over the past 5 years the property has undergone an intensive restoration which has restored the property from the Heritage at Risk register.

Matt Glasgow, a conservation surveyor was part of the National Trust team working on this project. He will give a talk on the intricacies and challenges that restoring the property brought up and the creative solutions.

After the talk, we will be taken on a guided tour of the building to learn about it’s history as well as the works taken to preserve and renovate this 600-year-old site.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at a historical landmark and meet fellow members from the Coventry area.
