RICS Wales: Caerphilly Castle guided tour

Overview

Having recently received a High Commendation at the RICS Wales Awards, Caerphilly Castle welcomes members for a private tour to learn about both the history of the castle and the story of its revival. We will be joined by Chris Bray MRICS, the surveyor on the project, Cadw and the Enhancement Programme team.

Come and learn about how this medieval monument has been restored and made accessible for future generations. The castle’s intensive refurbishment used the expertise of historians, surveyors, architects, stonemasons and archaeologists. A variety of modern techniques such as 3D point cloud surveys and photogrammetry surveys were used to assess the best course of action. Meanwhile, traditional building techniques were used for the repairs.

This is a unique opportunity to hear from the team behind this fantastic heritage project that protects Wales’ history and exemplifies everything that RICS stands for.
