RICS Matrics Edinburgh: Site Visit - Carrubbers Christian Centre

Overview

A return visit to see the refurbished and reimagined historic category B listed building on Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile.

Carrubbers Christian Centre is a church and community space with a growing and dynamic congregation. It has recently undergone a comprehensive and long-overdue refurbishment, having last been updated approximately 40 years ago.

The improvements to the building have increased accessibility and made the space more flexible, particularly for use by children and young people. The building has been sensitively adapted to support a thriving community in the 21st century. Works are largely complete and the building is now being handed over from the contractor to the congregation.

The visit will be led by David Johnson, Conservation-Accredited Architect and Managing Director at GLM.

The visit will offer insight relating to the adaption of a historic building, design and contract administration, as well as providing networking opportunities with other attendees.
