Overview

Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) is a key component of effective property and asset management, with its application guided by the RICS global professional standard. While the principles of PPM are well established, many property professionals continue to face challenges in applying these in practice.

With increasing cost pressures, ageing building stock, and greater scrutiny on asset performance, there is a growing need to move beyond viewing PPM as a compliance exercise and instead use it as a strategic tool to support decision-making. This includes informing lifecycle planning, prioritising maintenance, and aligning operational activity with long-term asset objectives.
