Overview

RICS has partnered with the Business Continuity Institute (BCI), a leading professional body for business continuity and resilience, to provide members with access to specialist training and practical knowledge.

Through this collaboration, RICS members can develop the knowledge and understanding needed to support business continuity and contribute to more resilient organisations.

As organisations increasingly face disruption from geopolitical instability, cyber threats, supply chain challenges, extreme weather events and other operational risks, understanding the principles of business continuity is an increasingly valuable professional skill.

Why business continuity matters for surveyors

Business continuity is growing in relevance across surveying, property, construction and infrastructure as organisations place greater emphasis on resilience, risk management and operational preparedness.

While surveyors may not be responsible for leading business continuity programmes, they are often involved in the assets, facilities, projects and services that organisations depend on to operate effectively.

Understanding the principles of business continuity can help professionals engage more effectively with clients and stakeholders, contribute to wider organisational resilience objectives, and broaden their expertise in an increasingly interconnected risk environment.

A shared commitment to professional resilience

“I am delighted to introduce this collaborative programme between the Business Continuity Institute and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. "The challenges organisations face today rarely sit within a single profession or discipline. "Business continuity is an essential capability for organisations of all sizes, helping them prepare for, respond to and recover from disruption. As risks become increasingly complex, it is more important than ever that professionals understand the principles of business continuity and the role they play in supporting organisational success. "This collaboration brings together the expertise of BCI to provide a practical and accessible introduction to business continuity. By working together, we can help broaden understanding of resilience across professions and equip participants with valuable knowledge that can be applied in their organisations. I hope you find the programme informative, engaging and useful in your professional development.”
