Overview

Construction projects can be held up or delayed due to disputes between parties and resulting in court cases. These events can have a significant impact on completion dates and profitability.

The course is designed to provide you with the technical knowledge on the provisions of dispute resolution and give practical advice on resolving disputes under FIDIC Contracts. The course will also introduce you to the application of Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB) rules and procedures.

Meet the trainer

Julian P B Smith — LL.M, MBA, C.Build E, FRICS, FCIArb, FCABE, MCIOB, FCMI, MDBF

Julian is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience in various commercial management and consulting positions with companies engaged in construction, specialist engineering and commercial real estate development.His specific project experience, at all stages of the project life-cycle and at a corporate level includes Airports, Railways, Power, Public and Commercial Real Estate Projects (including Hospitals, Hotels and Mixed-Use Developments), and Marine Civil Engineering work.

Based in the Asia Pacific region (currently Manila), Julian has worked extensively in the Asia Pacific region, including: Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, China, Thailand, the Philippines and Japan, and has had exposure to projects further afield in Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Latin America.

Julian is a founding director of S&G Asia, incorporated – a Philippines based company providing commercial and contractual services to developers, engineers and contractors.

Pre-requisite:

As this is an intermediate level course, participants will need to have good knowledge or experience working under FIDIC Contracts. Participants who have previously attended the FIDIC Contract Fundamentals is recommended for the course
