RICS is expanding its digital content offering with the launch of a new TikTok channel.

Inspiring future surveyors

TikTok provides us with a unique opportunity to raise awareness of surveying as an exciting, rewarding career.

People are increasingly using TikTok as a search engine rather than just an entertainment app, and 49% of 16–23-year-olds surveyed* reported using the platform for career planning.

From our research, we know what students want from a profession: strong earning potential, flexibility to work around the globe and the ability to make a meaningful impact on cities and societies. This new channel will showcase the possibilities of a career in surveying in a way that resonates with a TikTok audience.

We know the incredible scope of work that our members do, from helping build skyscrapers in major cities to valuing wind farms or working with the latest technology to map buildings and land. TikTok provides us with a platform to tell these stories to a brand new audience.

Showcasing our members

The channel will highlight the passion and expertise of our members worldwide, as well as the sheer breadth of the profession.

Content will include behind-the-scenes insights into what life as a surveyor is really like and will explain the different pathways into the profession. The channel will focus not only on the breadth of opportunities RICS membership offers but also the genuine influence and impact our members have on societies around the world on a daily basis.

By showing what life is like as a surveyor in a way that resonates with the next generation, we can build a TikTok surveying community and inspire young people to enter the profession.

Get involved

We are keen to hear from members from across markets and sectors to highlight the work surveyors do across the built and natural environments.

If you know of a story that could help us share the impact and diversity of the profession to young talent, please get in touch. Perhaps you have a project you worked on that you were particularly passionate about, or maybe you had a unique journey into the profession. If so, get in touch at comms@rics.org.uk.
