RICS Australia is pleased to announce and support the release of the Good Practice Building Product Information Guide by the National Building Products Coalition.

The Guide has been developed to promote better practice and greater certainty across the building and construction ecosystem, supporting manufacturers, specifiers, installers and certifiers. It forms part of the implementation of the National Building Product Assurance Framework, which was prepared by the Australian Building Codes Board in response to the Building Confidence Report.

Building product safety and conformity is a key element of the construction process, underpinning consumer safety, high-quality outcomes and overall and increasing confidence in the sector.

This industry-led initiative has been developed by the National Building Products Coalition, of which RICS is proud to be a member. The Coalition includes Master Builders Australia, ACRS, Building Designers Association of Australia, Building Products Industry Council, Property Council of Australia, NATA, ICC Evaluation Service, Standards Australia, CIOB, Master Electricians Australia, GS1, CQA, Engineers Australia, ASBEC, Master Builders Queensland, Master Builders Victoria and the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors. The Coalition is also supported by the Housing Industry Association, the Australian Steel Association and UL Solutions.

The Guide is accompanied by supporting materials covering Testing, Inspection and Certification, as well as information for manufacturers and suppliers, specifiers and installers, and surveyors and certifiers. It also builds on the Building Product Information Traceability and Digitalisation Guide that was released in 2026.

Kevin Brogan FRICS FAPI, Chair of the RICS Australasia Regional Advisory Board, said:

“RICS Australia is very pleased to be a part of the National Building Products Coalition and to have helped develop the Good Practice Building Product Information Guide.

This initiative is another important step towards increasing certainty and building a rigorous, well-understood system that supports a reliable product conformity regime consistent with the National Construction Code.

Special thanks go to the RICS members who have so generously provided their time and expertise to support these efforts.”
