Governing Council membership
The May Governing Council meetings were chaired by Nick Maclean OBE RD FRICS as Acting President.
Building Safety
Council received and discussed a presentation on building safety from the Chair of RICS Fire/Building Safety Working Group, focussing on the UK government response to the Grenfell Tower Public Inquiry and the implications for RICS.
Global Market Framework
Council provided feedback on the Global Market Framework, which has been created to provide focus, discipline and transparency to decisions on prioritisation and mode of operation in RICS markets.
Council ratified the decision to establish a legal entity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Commercial Growth Framework
Council considered the Commercial Growth Framework, which has been developed to strengthen our focus on non-members to achieve commercial return.
RICS Board Quarterly Report
Council received and discussed the latest quarterly report from the RICS Board, including the Q1 2025 CEO report and performance reporting pack detailing financial performance, membership numbers, commercial revenue, transformation programmes, and corporate key results.
Standards & Regulation Board Quarterly Report
Council received and discussed the latest quarterly report from the Standards & Regulation Board.
Entry & Assessment Implementation Progress
Council undertook a deep dive into implementation and delivery of the Entry & Assessment programme; the session providing a forum for Council to seek assurance on and provide input into the planned next stages and proposed long-term changes. Council agreed with the plan for delivering immediate changes to the current Entry & Assessment model subject to rationalisation of timeline and budget.
Governing Council agreed that a small sub group of Council would assist directly in the review of Entry & Assessment plans and implementation.
Collaboration Agreement with Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI)
Council approved entering into a renewed collaboration agreement with the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland.
