The RICS Registered Valuer list in Hong Kong has been included as one of the designated lists of valuation service providers under the Intellectual Property Department's new Pilot Patent Valuation Support Scheme.
The Intellectual Property Department (IPD) launched the Pilot Patent Valuation Support Scheme (Scheme) on 30 September 2026. The two-year Scheme aims to support eligible Hong Kong small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking intellectual property (IP) financing by providing funding support for the quantitative valuation of their patents and other IP assets.
Under the Scheme, approved enterprises are required to commission a valuation service provider from one of the designated lists published by IPD. We are pleased that the RICS Registered Valuer list in Hong Kong has been included as one of the designated lists under this new initiative.
We are pleased to see the RICS Registered Valuer list included as part of this initiative and look forward to keeping members informed of further developments.
Where an approved enterprise wishes to engage a valuer from the RICS Registered Valuer list, the enterprise is required under the Scheme to verify with RICS that the selected valuer has at least one year of experience in conducting valuations of IP/intangible assets or business interests.
Written confirmation from RICS that the valuer meets this experience requirement will need to be attached to the written quotation from the valuer or their firm/company.
