Surveyors shape the world we live in. You ensure we have safe homes, beautiful places to explore, and help tackle complex challenges in the face of increasing economic uncertainty and rapid urbanisation.

We all live in a connected but complex world. Every day, there are new problems to solve in a changing geopolitical environment.

Surveying is an ancient profession. Yet, the tools that surveyors use to shape our world evolve and shift. The role surveyors play in our society - your wide knowledge, expertise and ability to problem solve – remains as critical as ever.

To overcome the issues of today, we need to protect surveying skills. This means encouraging young people into the profession, upskilling existing surveyors and retaining talent wherever it is found.

RICS wants to understand the core of the problem. And critically, how do we help you to address it. This is why we want to hear from you. We are calling on our 140,000+ members globally, as well as the wider profession. Tell us what is standing in the way of a better built environment.

Through an evidence-based understanding of the skills pipeline, we can make a better case for investment and support for the future.

We need your help. Our short survey asks surveyors, in every corner of the globe, to tell us about the big challenges and the smaller ones.

Why did you become a surveyor?

What are the opportunities to bolster the profession?

What are the issues that are holding you back?

What would help you?

The survey only takes 10 minutes or fewer to complete. Your support will inform our work to boost surveying skills and keep surveyors' vital work globally on the map.

“I have seen firsthand the role the surveying profession plays in boosting the economy and helping societies to thrive. With your support we can understand and overcome the barriers - to attract and retain talent for the future. ”
