Overview

A behind-the-scenes build tour, followed by a tribunal update on rating, compulsory purchase and compensation

Opened in September 2025, join us for a tour of the £75 million Cavendish Building. A seven-storey development in Derby city centre and home to the Derby International Business School.

The tour will then be followed by a presentation from Peter McCrea FRICS who returns home to the East Midlands to give a topical update on the Tribunal's recent work, including rating, compulsory purchase and compensation, telecoms, and the modification of restrictive covenants.  This is a rare opportunity to hear from a serving Member of the Tribunal, with some insights into what goes into a trial and decision making process

Speaker

Peter McCrea OBE DL FRICS FCIArb practised in Derby and Nottingham for 25 years before being appointed the youngest ever Member of the Lands Chamber in 2013.  He was a co-founder of the Derby RICS Local Association in 2004, and served on the East Midlands Regional Board.  His other roles have included service on Governing Council, the Conduct and Appeals Panel, Chair of the Board of LionHeart for six years, and of the University of the Built Environment.  He was appointed OBE in 2024 for services to the profession of Chartered Surveyors, and was awarded the 2024 RICS Lifetime Achievement Award.
