Overview

RICS Matrics Edinburgh’s APC support study group for quantity surveying and construction will meet again on Tuesday 27 October 2026.

This session will focus on two key competencies:

  • client care and
  • design economics and cost planning.

This study group, hosted by RICS Matrics Edinburgh Committee, offers process support and tips throughout your assessment journey. The format will include an open Q&A, discussion of common issues and guidance on how to structure summaries of experience, with worked examples.

The study group also offers a forum for candidates at different stages of the APC to share experiences, ask questions and support one another in an informal setting.

While this study group is for the quantity surveying and construction pathway, and will be hosted by quantity surveyors, general advice on the APC and other competencies will be provided where possible.

This event is free. However, due to the requirement to manage the venue’s capacity, please book a ticket.

Photographs may be taken at this event. If you do not wish to be photographed, please make the Matrics host and/or photographer aware.

The opinion and advice about the RICS assessment process given during this event is based on our speakers' experience and does not necessarily reflect the advice given by RICS. As a candidate, you should ensure that you are familiar with the RICS candidate guidance for your route, the relevant RICS pathway guide, and the RICS requirements and competencies guide, as well as current advice on the assessment process.

In addition, the RICS Candidate Support team in your region provide free-of-charge support to candidates on all routes to assessment, including APC, Assoc and senior professional. Their support includes drop-ins, 1-2-1 advice and guidance, online resources, podcasts and webinars.
