Overview

RICS Matrics Edinburgh is thrilled to invite our Matrics community to a site visit of the Clayton Hotel, a Category A listed building located at 28 St Andrew's Square in the heart of the city's Georgian New Town.

A key project approach is the redevelopment of an existing listed building to be inherently low embodied and low operational carbon.

The 4-star hotel development encompasses 172 bedrooms with a further rear extension. The historic works will include retaining the impressive marble entrance with the feature staircase leading to ornate timber-panelled board rooms.

The plans for this Category A listed structure focus on a sensitive restoration that will revive many original features lost over time whilst harmonising it into the 21st century.

Please note it is absolutely essential that those who attend come suitably prepared with their own PPE. The minimum mandatory PPE for entry to this project is five point PPE: safety hard hat, safety glasses, safety gloves, safety boots and hi-vis vest.
