Being regulated by RICS is what sets chartered surveyors apart. Our regulatory framework, covering entry standards, professional conduct, ongoing competence, and enforcement, upholds the integrity of the profession and gives the RICS designation its meaning.
Regulation is led by the Standards and Regulation Board (SRB), the independent body responsible for RICS’ regulatory functions on behalf of the Governing Council.
RICS sets the professional standards and regulatory requirements that members and firms must follow.
Practical guidance, tools, and resources are provided to help you understand and meet your obligations.
RICS monitors compliance through reporting and assurance activities to ensure standards are being upheld.
Where required, professionals and firms must register and participate in specific regulatory schemes relevant to their work.
Members are expected to maintain their skills and knowledge through continuing professional development (CPD) and ongoing learning.
If standards are not met, RICS investigates concerns and takes appropriate action to protect the public and maintain trust in the profession.
