We honour the memory of former RICS president, Clive Lewis, who was president from 1993 to 1994.
Clive started his surveying career at Goddard and Smith, before setting up his own practice, Clive Lewis & Partners, in 1962. Throughout his career, Clive held notable appointments. He served as British Chapter president and World president at FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation), joint chairman of Colliers Erdman Lewis and president of the RICS General Practice division. He also served as deputy chair of Merseyside Development Corporation, which resulted in a doctorate at Liverpool University.
During his time at RICS, Clive helped co-write the very first RICS Red Book. As president, he helped steer the organisation through a difficult time by creating new standards and training for RICS arbitrators and independent experts. Known for his love of sport, particularly cricket, he led RICS in cricket tournaments in the Middle East.
Clive will be remembered for his generosity, love of sport and competitive spirit.
Clive is survived by his three children: Simon, Victoria and Mark.
