Join RICS for an exclusive behind-the-scenes site visit to the new Nairn Academy, a landmark £61 million Passivhaus education project currently under construction in the Highlands.

Delivered by Balfour Beatty on behalf of The Highland Council, the development will replace the existing Nairn Academy with a modern 9,767m² secondary school campus and new 3G artificial grass sports pitch, creating a state-of-the-art learning environment for up to 745 students.

The event will begin with a presentation by William Fettes, Principal Technical Officer at The Highland Council, who will provide an overview of the project, covering the client's vision, project objectives, key challenges and the benefits the new facility will bring to pupils, staff and the wider Nairn community.

Following the presentation, attendees will take part in a guided site tour led by Neil Fowlie, Site Manager at Balfour Beatty, providing a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the design and construction of one of Scotland's most sustainable educational facilities.

This site visit offers an excellent opportunity for RICS members to gain valuable insight into the delivery of a major public sector construction project, explore Passivhaus design and construction principles in practice, and engage directly with both the client and contractor teams responsible for delivering this flagship educational facility.
