JCT contracts are the most used suite of building contracts in the UK, readily available for professionals wishing to enter into a formal, legally binding construction project agreement. They provide a structured framework for logging various aspects of the construction project, ensuring smooth collaboration, in turn, minimizing disputes during construction projects.

The JCT suite includes different contract forms tailored to specific projects and procurement routes, These contracts cover various aspects of the project lifecycle.

The JCT 2024 Edition is set to launch in April 2024, offering newly incorporated features. A few new themes include ‘Modernising and Streamlining’, the adoption of gender-neutral language, and more flexibility around electronic notices, ‘Future proofing’, with changes to mirror the objectives of the Construction Playbook. The ‘Future Proofing’ section includes the addition of previously optional supplemental provisions into the main document around Collaborative Working, Sustainable Development and Environmental Considerations.
