RICS in Scotland: Passivhaus Workshop - Highlands & Islands Local Members Group

Overview

Join us for a free, hands‑on Passivhaus learning experience designed to demystify the principles, practicalities, and real‑world delivery of ultra‑low‑energy buildings. Hosted at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness, this interactive workshop brings together expert speakers, live demonstrations, and practical sessions suitable for all built‑environment professionals whether you’re new to Passivhaus or looking to deepen your technical understanding. Our speakers will be on hand to answer your questions.

We’ll begin with presentations from Tom Hamilton and Rachel Murray (Graham & Sibbald) exploring the principles, application and legislative position of Passivhaus, EnerPHit and PHPP10, followed by a project delivery case study from Allan Smith, Low Carbon Manager at Morrison Construction. Attendees will then take part in two rotating practical workshops led by SIGA and Planit X, covering air‑tightness principles including “hands on application” of air tightness taping, detailing, thermal imaging, and live air‑testing demonstrations.

Expect an engaging 2.5‑hour session combining expert insight, Q&A and practical guidance you can take straight back into your projects. Light refreshments will be provided, with arrival from 2pm for a 2:15pm start, finishing around 4:45pm.
