Overview

Sustainability regulation is becoming a material factor in how property is assessed, financed, occupied and valued. From minimum energy efficiency standards and EPC requirements to wider ESG expectations, valuers are increasingly required to understand how regulatory change influences asset performance, investment decisions and long-term marketability. For some assets, stronger sustainability performance may support rental growth, occupier demand and investor confidence. For others, poor energy performance or exposure to climate-related risks may result in increased capital expenditure, reduced liquidity, valuation uncertainty and the risk of obsolescence.

Using insights from global markets, this webinar will explore how regulations and market expectations around sustainability are affecting property value across the built environment. It will consider the implications for valuation practice, asset management and investment decision-making. The session will help learners to understand how sustainability-related risks and opportunities should be identified, interpreted and reflected in professional advice.

She is the Founder and Managing Director of WikiFrank Chartered Valuers (Pvt) Ltd. and serves on the valuation panels of leading commercial banks and financial institutions in Sri Lanka. She also serves as an independent valuation reviewer for financial reporting and audit purposes. Wathsala is an active advocate for ESG and sustainability in valuation practice, having delivered industry presentations and webinars on the subject and contributed to the development of the RICS Professional Standard, ESG and Sustainability in Commercial Property Valuation – Global 4th Edition".
