Overview

During this 1 hour webinar, we will be joined by Karen Aldridge, Ecology Officer at Highland Council, who will provide an overview of Highland Council’s Biodiversity Enhancement Policy, in the context of NPF4. The webinar will address the impact this crucial issue will have on developments and projects throughout the Highlands. It will cover actions and requirements in addressing biodiversity within a planning application, under the National Planning Framework. Also joining us will be Julie-Ann Bain from the Council’s Inverness Area Planning Team, who will be there to answer any queries and offer tips and support in relation to the planning application stage.

The webinar is a great opportunity to find out more about an issue that is key in the bid to address the climate and nature emergency, and the impact it will have on the planning and development process. While it will specifically focus on Highland Council’s policy, the webinar is open to all members across Scotland, particularly those who may be involved in projects in the Highlands.

Learning outcomes

Greater understanding of NPF4 and Highland Council’s Biodiversity Policy, together with the impacts, consequences and mitigation of biodiversity related to planning applications and outcomes for developments.
