Sustainability

The world faces a climate crisis, one which is currently on track to radically disrupt all life on Earth. The global built environment is a major contributor to this problem.

According to the UN, the global built environment industry is responsible for just over a third of all CO2 emissions and consumes a third of all energy.

Our profession is uniquely placed to steer the built environment towards a sustainable future.

That's why we've convened some of the world's leading thinkers as part of our World Built Environment Forum, to break down silos across the built and natural environment industry. Collaboratively, we will help build resilient, successful communities.

That alone is not enough. We must also do more to help our clients deploy capital towards projects which ensure sustainable outcomes. Inherent in this challenge is enabling confident investment, trade and economies through the global adoption of RICS standards.

This is a defining opportunity for our profession to pioneer better environments and shape a resilient future for future generations.
