In this exclusive interview, Samantha Pumfleet, our Candidate & Early Years Engagement Specialist, shares how her role at RICS empowers the next generation of professionals. Discover her dedication to student success through tailored support and guidance.

Can you tell us about your role and what inspires you most about working with the next generation of RICS professionals?

My role is to engage with prospective and current candidates, including university students, and provide direct support and guidance throughout their qualification journey with RICS.

This includes tailored support activities for candidates across all routes to membership, workshops, webinars, coaching sessions, and mentoring programmes.

Having liaised with qualified members in my previous RICS membership role, I understand what achieving the RICS designation means to them, and I am excited to support the candidate qualification journey.

How can RICS Students/Candidates make the most of the support available to them?

We aim to provide informative sessions on the qualification journey, from sessions on benefits of membership and how to join to sessions on how to prepare for final assessment.

We recommend visiting our website for all the up-to-date links and guides. Our students and candidates should also look out for our newsletters and regular communications which will include networking opportunities, and we recommend keeping details up to date to ensure communications are received. We have a dedicated team within our hub who assist with everyday queries and questions such as updating information.

What do you enjoy most about working with RICS Students and Candidates at different stages of their professional journey?

I enjoy working with people who are passionate and enthusiastic about what they do and want to work towards a qualification that is globally recognised as an indication of professionalism and excellence.

If you could describe your work with RICS Students and Candidates in three words, what would they be?

Support. Collaboration. Future.
