The Team embraces new technologies, learns continuously and stays adaptable. They are proud of the successful launching of their research solutions – A.I. Cost Estimation System and Auto-BWTPI System which are the first A.I. systems developed and implemented in Hong Kong for cost estimation and BWTPI compilation respectively. The new temple serves 5,000 free meals for those in needs every week.

This achieved what they promote “no one leaves with an empty stomach” and “Justice and Equality”. Most importantly, Sikhs have a safe location in contrast to the old building built in 1901, with the architecture built resemble to ones in India.

Ms. Chiu holds a Master of Science degree in Real Estate Economics and Finance, a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance, a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law. She is also a solicitor of the High Court of the HKSAR, a CFA Charterholder, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a fellow member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

Tim oversees the Company’s strategic direction and provides leadership to all levels of the organisation. He is also a Director of John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Limited and Chairman of Swire Hotels.

Before his current role, Tim was Chief Executive Officer, Chinese Mainland – managing and realising the Company’s portfolios and overall investment strategy, fostering key partnerships and advancing major projects in the Chinese Mainland.   

Prior to this, he was General Manager, Development & Valuations, responsible for business development in Hong Kong, covering the areas of investment and trading properties.

A Swire group veteran who joined in 1994, Tim has held senior positions at various subsidiary companies in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.

Tim holds an MA (Hons) in Modern Languages from Cambridge University. He’s a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and an Independent Member of The English Schools Foundation Board of Governors. He is also a Global Governing Trustee of the Urban Land Institute.

2023 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

Dr. Chan was the Chairman of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) - the statutory organisation responsible for the sustainable development of the construction industry in Hong Kong. During his six-year tenure from 2016 to 2022, the CIC spearheaded numerous bold initiatives to improve the industry, many of which were revolutionary and impactful, including the MiC technology, which transformed the development of Hong Kong.   

Dr. Chan was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the HKSAR Government in the 2022 Honours List for his exemplary public and community service over the years;  in particular, for his outstanding and strategic contribution to the construction industry. He was the recipient of the RICS Lifetime Achievement Award 2023, Hong Kong.

Presently, I hold the position of Assistant Contract Manager within a premier contractor group based in Hong Kong. My core responsibilities entail the preparation of claim documentation, analysis of legal and contractual grounds for claims, identification of potential risks leading to claims, and the formulation of pertinent recommendations.

On the personal accolades front, I have been honored with several prestigious awards, including the RICS Young Achiever of the Year 2023, the HKIS 1st QSD Award as the Young QS Awardee 2022, and the CIC BIMer accolade in 2022.

Bella is currently the Director – Asset Management of Sino Land Company Limited overseeing the Asset Management of Sino Group’s portfolios in Hong Kong and in Mainland China covering retail, commercial, residential and industrial sectors.  

She is currently a member of the Sustainability Committee of the Group. Prior to joining Sino, she was the Director – Leasing and Management of a blue chip listed company managing the operations of the entire Hong Kong portfolio. She revamped the iconic and prestigious mall in Hong Kong– Peak Galleria and promoted it as one of the most attractive destination to all travelers worldwide. She came from a legal background and was the Company Secretary, General Counsel and Assistant Director of a blue-chip listed company where she oversaw human resources, sustainability, legal and company secretarial matters.  

She led the company to become a constituent member of Dow Jones Sustainability Index (Asia Pacific) and to win the Best Corporate Governance Excellence Award (top tier companies) and the “Sustainability Excellence” award held by Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies.    

Ms. Chhoa is appointed as the member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel of Financial Reporting Council and the member of Area Committee of Home Affairs Department. She is a solicitor qualified to practice in Hong Kong and holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Master in Global Finance from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and New York University.

KK Fung serves as Chairman for Greater China at JLL, where he is responsible for advising the strategic direction of a business with more than 20,000 employees in 16 corporate offices.

KK has been instrumental in helping expand the company’s services across the region, and has been involved in many pioneering retail and office developments.

For twelve years from 2009, He served as the CEO to lead the Greater China business and has spent the last decade solidifying JLL’s leadership in China. Under his charge, the company opened six new offices across the region, developed new online businesses, and forged stronger relations with both large corporates as well as city government authorities.

KK cares deeply about social issues and is a key stakeholder in JLL’s Building a Better Tomorrow program, the firm’s global sustainability initiative. He also chairs
the Executive Committee Board at SENsational Foundation, an NGO aims to ensure

As a Managing Principal, Global Head of Capital Markets and Co-Chair of Alternative Investments at Gaw Capital Partners, Christina works closely with limited partners relating to capital raising and new product developments. Gaw Capital is a real estate private equity firm and has raised seven commingled funds targeting the APAC region since 2005 with over US$35.9 billion in AUM as of Q4 2023.

She also serves as Executive Director of Pioneer Global Group (0224.HK) and Independent Non-Executive Director and Member of the Sustainability Committee of CLP Holdings Limited (0002.HK). She was appointed as the member of the Main Board and GEM Listing Committees of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited in 2022.

Ms. Gaw was named Global PERE’s Rainmaker 30 and one of the Top 10 PERE’s Women of Influence in 2021.

Kenneth was the Chairman of Rider Levett Bucknall North Asia Region and was also one of the Global Board Directors of the group. He has over 37-year experience in the quantity surveying field. He has been involved in different types of projects in both public and private sectors in Hong Kong, and projects in Macau, Mainland China and a few other countries involving international clients and consultants.

He specialises in holistic cost management and quantity surveying skills including cost planning, value engineering, procurement strategy and dispute resolution.

Kenneth has been a former Board Member of RICS Asia Pacific World Regional Board from 2017 to 2023, a former Chairman of the Asia QS Professional Group Board of the RICS from 2012 to 2016 and a former Chairman of the RICS Hong Kong Board from 2011 to 2013.

At present, he is a Governing Council member of RICS.

Sr Francis Lam is currently the President of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS). Moreover, Sr Lam is a Supervisory Board Member of the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) (2023-2026) as well as a Member of the HKHS’s Special Committee on Planning, Design and Construction (2021-2024).     

Previously, Sr Lam was the Chairman of the Surveyors Registration Board (2022-2023), Chairman and Spokesman of HKIS Housing Policy Panel (2018-2022), Chairman of the HKIS Planning and Development Division (2010-2011, 2019-2021), a Member of the Appeal Tribunal Panel (Buildings) (2009-2012, 2018-2023), the External Examiner of the University of Hong Kong’s Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies (2017-2021), Adviser to the Po Leung Kuk Property Committee (2020-2022), and a Member of the Working Group on Flat Design and Renovation of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service’s Community Housing Movement (2017-2022).  

Sr Lam is also an Urban Planner, a Member of The Hong Kong Institute of Planners and Royal Town Planning Institute.

Ir Daniel LEUNG is currently the Deputy Director of Housing Department.

 Ir Leung graduated from the University of Hong Kong with first class honours degree in civil and structural engineering and obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of London (external programme), a Master of Science Degree in Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.  

He is a Chartered Engineer and a fellow member of the HKIE. He possesses over twenty year’s bountiful experiences in the local construction industry.

Ir Leung leads amulti-disciplinary team for implementation of public housing developments in Hong Kong covering projects from feasibility, planning, design to construction stages, establishing operational policies and strategies, embracing HKHA’s core values being Caring, Customer-focused, Committed and Creative.  He has been steering the development of different construction technologies including Building Information Modeling, Geographic Information System, etc. to enhance the business practices of the Housing Department.

Michael LI is an architect by profession and studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London and joined the Architectural Services Department in 1997.  Before returning to the department in 2014, he was posted to the Development Bureau’s Energizing Kowloon East Office in facilitating the transformation of Kowloon East area into another premier Central Business District of Hong Kong.   

He has extensive professional experience and handled a number of projects including the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point Complex, Kowloon East Regional Police Operation Base, disciplinary staff quarters at Pak Shing Kok and elderly homes at Kwu Tung North adopting Modular Integrated Construction, Hong Kong Wetland Park, the Diamond Hill Columbarium and Crematorium, the City Gallery, Quarantine Camps with about 4,100 quarantine units at various locations of Hong Kong in 2020,  eight Community Isolation Facilities in 2022 with about 40,000 units in about four months to combat against COVID-19 and 30,000 units of Light Public Housing by 2027-28.

Professor Wilson Lu is a Chair Professor (Digital Construction) and Head of the Department of Real Estate and Construction at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), specialised in construction management, with particular research interest in BIM and Industry 4.0 technologies including Big Data, Blockchain, IoTs and 3D printing.

Serving as the Associate Dean (Research) of Faculty of Architecture since 2016 and an active member in Construction Industry Council as well as Research Grant Council, Professor Lu is widely recognized for his work with research grants and publications.    

Professor Lu is the leader of research grants worth around US$8 million. He was the receiver of the ASCE Journal of Management in Engineering (JME) Best Peer Reviewed Paper Award for 2022; Resources, Conservation & Recycling (RCR) Best Paper Award 2021; buildingSMART International (bSI) Awards 2021, Hong Kong CIC Construction Digitalization Award 2021, HKU Outstanding Young Researcher Award 2014-15, HKU Faculty Knowledge Exchange (KE) award 2018-19, and HKU Faculty Research Output Prize (ROP) award 2018-19. Prof.

Lu has been ranked as one of the Top 1% Scholar by Clarivate Analytics since 2017.

Scott initially trained as a civil engineer working for a global design consultancy. Since qualifying, Scott has spent over 30 years based in Hong Kong in various commercial management roles for the Airport Authority, AsiaWorld-Expo and Ocean Park Corporation.  

He joined MTR in 2008 with responsibility for the procurement and commercial management of Hong Kong's then five new railway projects with a combined budget of some HK$200Bn.     

Scott is currently General Manager – Commercial Management in MTR’s Capital Works Business Unit with procurement and commercial management responsibility for capital works projects across MTR, including both major asset replacement and multiple planned and ongoing new railway extension projects.     

Scott is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh and University College of Estate Management.  He is Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Nomination will be accepted only upon acknowledgement of nomination materials.

Your submission should include:

  • Region and Category you are submitting for.
  • Nominator and Nominee contact details.
  • Main body of nomination – this should clearly explain the project, demonstrate a connection to the judging criteria and show a commitment to professionalism and ethics (showcasing at least 1 but no more than 3 projects that the team/individual has worked on). This is where you want to make it clear to the judges exactly why your submission is deserving of the award. Please note that this will not be a PDF upload, you will need to complete free text sections within the online form, including an introduction and responses to each applicable element of the judging criteria (professionalism, outcome and achievement, teamwork, innovation and sustainability). Word limits have been applied to each free text box in accordance with the criteria weighting. We recommend drafting your responses within a word document and then copying and pasting them into the online submission form.
  • Up to 3 testimonials (1 page each, PDF upload). For Individual Award categories, at least 1 testimonial must be supplied.
  • At least one photograph of the nominated team/individual and up to 5 additional photographs of the nominated team/individual and/or project(s) referenced in the submission.
  • For Individual Award categories, a short video of the Nominee must be supplied (maximum of 2 minutes). This video should introduce the Nominee to the judges, highlighting their achievements and personality.
  • Up to 3 pieces of other appropriate supporting material, such as technical documentation, media clippings, floor plans, videos, etc. (Maximum of 4 pages per piece of supporting material).
  • Your company logo.
  • A 100-word summary of the nomination for marketing purposes – what the project was and how the team/individual has showcased excellence (free text section within the form).
  • For the Emerging Achiever of the Year category, the Nominee’s full CV with references must be supplied to verify eligibility.

Team and company awards

1. Nominated project(s) and major/key team member(s) must be located or operated in the Awards region being submitted for.

2. Nominations can be made by the nominee (team, company or consortia) or a third party.

3. The project(s) which is the subject of the nomination must have been worked on within the 2023 calendar year, though not necessarily completed.

4. Nominations must be based on at least one but no more than three projects within the calendar year (nominating party to select).

5. A company may submit a maximum of 2 nominations within the same category (including joint nominations). Each nomination must be for a separate team and project.

6. A company may submit a joint nomination however, where a joint nomination is submitted a subsequent, stand-alone application from the same company, on the same project(s) and in the same category is not allowed.

7. Nominations must be submitted via the online submission platform. Where multiple nominations are being submitted by the one organisation, a separate online submission will need to be completed for each nomination.

8. Nomination must be accompanied by a 100-word summary for marketing purposes.

9. Other relevant supporting materials/documents are optional but welcomed. These should be limited to a maximum of five additional photographs, three additional pieces of supporting material/documents and three testimonials. (Documents and testimonials should be in PDF format.)

10. A logo must be provided as well as a photo of the team or individual nominated. This will be used for marketing purposes and during award presentations.

11. Information provided within the submission may be used by RICS for the purpose of the judging or promotion of the Awards. Any confidential information must be clearly stated within the submission.

12. The jury panel’s decision on eligibility of the nominations shall be final and is non appealable.

13. Any category which receives less than 2 nominations will not be awarded a winner, exceptions made at the Judge’s discretion.

Individual awards

1. Nominated individual must be currently located/operating/have worked in the Awards region being submitted for.

2. The project(s) which is the subject of the nomination must have been worked on within the 2023 calendar year, though not necessarily completed. However, submissions for the Woman of the Built Environment Award and Emerging Achiever Award can reference achievements throughout the nominee’s entire career.

3. Nominations must be based on at least one but no more than three project(s) (nominating party to select).

4. Nominations must be submitted via the online submission form. Where multiple nominations are being submitted by the one organisation, a separate online submission form will need to be completed for each nomination.

5. Nomination must be accompanied by a 100-word summary for marketing purposes.

6. Nomination must be accompanied by at least 1 testimonial from a client, colleague or peer. (Testimonials should be in PDF format.)

7. Nomination must be accompanied by a short video of the nominee (maximum 2 minutes).

8. Other relevant supporting materials/documents are optional but welcomed. These should be limited to a maximum of five additional photographs, three additional pieces of supporting material/documents and two additional testimonials. (Documents and testimonials should be in PDF format.)

Emerging Achiever of the Year Award

1. In addition to the individual award criteria, the Emerging Achiever of the Year must have less than 10 years professional experience working in the built and/or natural environments to be eligible.

2. Nomination must be accompanied by the Nominee’s full CV with references, to verify eligibility.

  • An online submission is completed for each nomination.
  • For team awards, at least one but no more than three projects have been included in the nomination.
  • For team awards, the nomination is accompanied by at least 1 photograph of the team/individuals nominated (for marketing use), a 100-word summary of the nomination (for marketing use) and includes a copy of the nominee’s company logo (as appropriate).
  • For individual awards, the nomination is accompanied by at least 1 photograph of the individual nominated (for marketing use), a 100-word summary of the nomination (for marketing use), at least 1 testimonial, a short introductory video of the nominee (max 2 mins) and a copy of the nominee’s company logo (as appropriate).
  • For the Emerging Achiever of the Year category only, the nomination is accompanied by the Nominee’s full CV with references, to verify eligibility.
  • Supporting material may include testimonials, photographs, technical documentation, media clippings, floor plans, etc. to support the adjudication process.
  • Supporting material is limited to a maximum of five additional photographs, three additional pieces of relevant material/documents and three testimonials.
  • Confidential information is clearly labelled ‘RICS Awards in Confidence’.

Privacy

Information provided within the submission may be used by RICS for the purpose of the judging or promotion of the Awards. Any confidential information must be clearly stated within the submission.

Terms and Conditions

Judges will exclude any submissions that are not completed in full.

The closing date for entries is 24/05/2024 however RICS reserves the right to extend the deadline.

The judges’ decision is final, and awards will be made at their discretion.

Judges reserve the right to move a project into another category if they feel it would better fit the criteria.

We regret that feedback cannot be provided on individual entries.

RICS reserves the right to use photographs and content of entries for PR and publicity purpose. By entering your images and information as part of your submission for the RICS Awards you agree to grant RICS or any third-party we deem suitable worldwide, non-exclusive, unlimited right to use, publish and print in any media.

Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and procedures along with the terms and conditions and to have agreed to be bound by them when entering this competition.

By entering you are agreeing to be contacted by RICS with details of the RICS Awards.

It is the responsibility of the entrant to establish that there are no restrictions or reasons the project cannot be entered and that all interested parties have been contacted and are aware of the entry.

To help us manage and maintain the reputation of the RICS Awards you must inform us about any negative media stories relating to the entry that have occurred during the 12 months preceding the awards ceremony. Negative publicity does not necessarily mean that your entry will be disallowed; however, if it is not disclosed your entry may be disqualified.

Entrants warrant RICS that it has the full and exclusive right to present their credentials (e.g. “Surveyor”) as such. RICS accepts these credentials in good faith and cannot verify that they are correct. Accordingly, any dispute regarding entrants’ credentials must be dealt with between the parties concerned and not with RICS.
