Estimating Team of Quantity Surveying Branch, ArchSD - Application of artificial intelligence in cost estimation

The Estimating Team of the QS Branch in Architectural Services Department is dedicated to research on feasibility of application of the latest innovative technologies to enhance quality and efficiency in QS practices. The Team embraces new technologies, learns continuously and stays adaptable. They are proud of the successful launching of their research solutions – A.I. Cost Estimation System and Auto-BWTPI System which are the first A.I. systems developed and implemented in Hong Kong for cost estimation and BWTPI compilation respectively. The Team will never be satisfied with staying in comfort zone, but keep researching to pursue thriving in the dynamic world.

Mass Deployment on Renewable Energy Projects in Existing Government Buildings

The Architectural Services Department (ArchSD) & Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) have successfully implemented a pioneering programme for mass deployment on renewable energy projects in existing government buildings in Hong Kong, overcoming challenges and ensuring seamless integration of process, place, and people. Their commitment to excellence and innovation in facility management not only sets a new standard for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)-aligned facility management practices, but also encourages and drives the trades and the society towards carbon neutrality, in order to achieve the vision of Zero Carbon Emission – Liveable City – Sustainable Development.

The CBRE Advisory & Transaction Services – Office Services team of 37 brokers completed over 300 transactions in 2023 covering over 3 million sq. ft. of Grade A office spaces across Hong Kong. The Office Services team secured many marquee landlord representation mandates and built a strong reputation among Chinese PRC clients. As a leading real estate advisor, the CBRE team provides integrated real estate solutions for occupiers working alongside workplace, transaction management and project management teams. This marked one of the largest retail deals in Central for the year. This transformational strategy underpins the Sotheby’s innovative vision and will have a lasting impact on its long-term business growth in Asia. D·Park, located in Tsuen Wan, is a shopping mall that spans an impressive 630,000 square feet. It made headlines as one of the largest en-bloc transaction in 2024, signifying its prominence. The teams’ excellence shines through their ability to secure this outstanding transaction while ensuring smooth operational transition in this massive mall with 130+ tenancies and HKD 1 billion worth of assets, with the help of over 140 professionals working day and night to tackle more than 200 operational and contractual complexities without a traditional real estate agent involved in the deal.

Unlocking the Full Potential of Building Information Modelling with Open BIM

The nominated team has exemplified exceptional synergy, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to advancing research and education in the built environment. The team has made significant contributions to the digital transformation and sustainable workforce in Hong Kong’s construction sector. It has set a new benchmark in open BIM education by empowering future surveyors and engineers with the knowledge and skills required to unlock the full potential of BIM. Colliers’ Research department is composed of members with diverse real estate and planning expertise, led by veteran Kathy Lee. Khalsa Diwan Hong Kong , known as the sole Sikh Temple in Hong Kong, has been the centre of the Sikh community since 1901. JLL was appointed as the project manager for its demolition and redevelopment. The team, consisting of Ryan Wong, K.P. Poon, Frankie Lee, Harry Wong, and Kristy Luk, brings together a diverse range of skills to address challenges and achieve outstanding results. The Sikh Temple has reopened in a grand manner, now serving not only the Sikh community but people of all races, providing public spaces such as prayer halls, kitchens, langar halls, meeting rooms, and computer rooms.

Refurbishment of Kai Tin Shopping Centre, Lam Tin

Link initiated the refurbishment of Kai Tin Shopping Centre to revitalize its aging infrastructure and declining foot traffic. Located in Lam Tin, the 185,000 sq. ft. centre with 450 car parks has long been a commercial hub. Link aimed to transform it into a vibrant, modern shopping destination, reflecting their commitment to sustainable development and community engagement.

The strong professional team reconfigured retail spaces to better meet contemporary needs and modernized the infrastructure. Enhancements included upgraded façades, accessibility, interior spaces, and new themed open gardens were created to enhance the shopping experience.

The Upcycling Project

As a signature community service programme of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA), the Upcycling Project has brought together professionals and the young generation to create customised furniture and provide decluttering services for low-income families in Hong Kong’s old districts. The project also served as a platform for knowledge exchange and skills development. The Staunton Street / Shing Wong Street Revitalisation Project (H19)

In 2018, the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) launched the H19 Project, comprising nine tenement buildings in the heart of Hong Kong’s historic printing industry district. Rooted in community-driven placemaking, this initiative, guided by a commissioned Community Making Study, prioritizes sustainable urban revitalization through collaborative efforts. Transitional Housing Project - Lok Sin Village

The Lok Sin Village Transitional Housing Project is the largest of its kind in Hong Kong’s Northern Tai Po District. It is a collaboration between three organizations who each represents a different sector of our society -- the Housing Bureau (government), Lok Sin Tong (NGOs) and Wheelock Properties (commercial sectors). The project’s goal is to create a temporary solution that specifically caters to underprivileged individuals or families who are waiting for public housing. With an emphasis on sustainable development, it is also an example of how both environmental ideals and social needs can be addressed in one single initiative.

Director of BSc in Surveying Programme and Assistant Professor, Department of Real Estate and Construction, University of Hong Kong

As the Director of the BSc in Surveying Programme at the University of Hong Kong, and a mother of two, Isabelle has made significant contributions to the built environment sector in talent attraction and health-centric underground space development.

She has addressed the shortage of human resources in construction through various initiatives and events. Isabelle has also secured research grants to explore health-centric underground space developments using VR and EEG technologies, resulting in numerous high-end publications in esteemed international journals and conferences.

Her research has made significant contributions to social, environmental, and economic sustainability, positively impacting the future of urban development.

Helen began her Architectural internship in 1994, she worked on projects in Melbourne , Canberra, Sydney, Singapore, Mumbai and Dhaka. And also periodically tutoring at University in Melbourne and Singapore. She returned to study a Master’s degree in 2019 to reset work life balance.

Helen is a committed individual with strong moral and ethical code drives her to support improvement in all facets of her life and profession. She an active contributor in project work and her demonstrates openness to adapt to macro and micro level challenges . Her embodied knowledge is inspiring and demonstra female longevity in industry.

Rachel Chung is an RICS Registered Valuer and Associate Director of the Knight Frank Valuation & Advisory team. A young surveyor who strives to make a positive impact through her profession, she has become a role model for her peers.

Despite her young age, Rachel has garnered extensive experience in sizeable valuations, which she carries out with steadfast professionalism. Clients trust Rachel to provide the support they need to meet their business goals.

Project Manager, JLL

With solid and persistent effort of Harry throughout the past years, the Sikh Temple project continued to echo Basic Law’s emphasis to promote and protect diverse religious culture. 500 Sikhs and visitors visited the new temple every day, which is 40% more than the old temple. The new temple serves 5,000 free meals for those in needs every week.

This achieved what they promote “no one leaves with an empty stomach” and “Justice and Equality”. Most importantly, Sikhs have a safe location in contrast to the old building built in 1901, with the architecture built resemble to ones in India.

Justina Chiu has been the CEO of Fortune REIT since 2015 and an Executive Director since 2010.  She is responsible for the overall performance and direction of Fortune REIT (778.HK).

Ms. Chiu holds a Master of Science degree in Real Estate Economics and Finance, a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance, a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law. She is also a solicitor of the High Court of the HKSAR, a CFA Charterholder, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a fellow member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

Tim oversees the Company’s strategic direction and provides leadership to all levels of the organisation. He is also a Director of John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Limited and Chairman of Swire Hotels.

Before his current role, Tim was Chief Executive Officer, Chinese Mainland – managing and realising the Company’s portfolios and overall investment strategy, fostering key partnerships and advancing major projects in the Chinese Mainland.

2023 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

Dr. Chan was the Chairman of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) - the statutory organisation responsible for the sustainable development of the construction industry in Hong Kong. During his six-year tenure from 2016 to 2022, the CIC spearheaded numerous bold initiatives to improve the industry, many of which were revolutionary and impactful, including the MiC technology, which transformed the development of Hong Kong.

Dr. Chan was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the HKSAR Government in the 2022 Honours List for his exemplary public and community service over the years; in particular, for his outstanding and strategic contribution to the construction industry. He was the recipient of the RICS Lifetime Achievement Award 2023, Hong Kong.

Dr. Chan Ka-Kui, GBS, JP

With over 13 years of experience in the construction industry, my expertise encompasses roles such as Quantity Surveyor and BIM Management Professional.

Presently, I hold the position of Assistant Contract Manager within a premier contractor group based in Hong Kong. My core responsibilities entail the preparation of claim documentation, analysis of legal and contractual grounds for claims, identification of potential risks leading to claims, and the formulation of pertinent recommendations.

Bella is currently the Director – Asset Management of Sino Land Company Limited overseeing the Asset Management of Sino Group’s portfolios in Hong Kong and in Mainland China covering retail, commercial, residential and industrial sectors.

She is currently a member of the Sustainability Committee of the Group. Prior to joining Sino, she was the Director – Leasing and Management of a blue chip listed company managing the operations of the entire Hong Kong portfolio. She revamped the iconic and prestigious mall in Hong Kong– Peak Galleria and promoted it as one of the most attractive destination to all travelers worldwide. She came from a legal background and was the Company Secretary, General Counsel and Assistant Director of a blue-chip listed company where she oversaw human resources, sustainability, legal and company secretarial matters.

She led the company to become a constituent member of Dow Jones Sustainability Index (Asia Pacific) and to win the Best Corporate Governance Excellence Award (top tier companies) and the “Sustainability Excellence” award held by Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies.

Ms. Chhoa is appointed as the member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel of Financial Reporting Council and the member of Area Committee of Home Affairs Department. KK Fung serves as Chairman for Greater China at JLL, where he is responsible for advising the strategic direction of a business with more than 20,000 employees in 16 corporate offices.

KK has been instrumental in helping expand the company’s services across the region, and has been involved in many pioneering retail and office developments.

For twelve years from 2009, He served as the CEO to lead the Greater China business and has spent the last decade solidifying JLL’s leadership in China. Gaw Capital is a real estate private equity firm and has raised seven commingled funds targeting the APAC region since 2005 with over US$35.9 billion in AUM as of Q4 2023.

She also serves as Executive Director of Pioneer Global Group (0224.HK) and Independent Non-Executive Director and Member of the Sustainability Committee of CLP Holdings Limited (0002.HK). She was appointed as the member of the Main Board and GEM Listing Committees of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited in 2022.

Christina Gaw

RICS Governing Council Member & Consultant, Rider Levett Bucknall

Kenneth was the Chairman of Rider Levett Bucknall North Asia Region and was also one of the Global Board Directors of the group. He has over 37-year experience in the quantity surveying field. He has been involved in different types of projects in both public and private sectors in Hong Kong, and projects in Macau, Mainland China and a few other countries involving international clients and consultants.

He specialises in holistic cost management and quantity surveying skills including cost planning, value engineering, procurement strategy and dispute resolution.

Kenneth has been a former Board Member of RICS Asia Pacific World Regional Board from 2017 to 2023, a former Chairman of the Asia QS Professional Group Board of the RICS from 2012 to 2016 and a former Chairman of the RICS Hong Kong Board from 2011 to 2013.

Sr Francis Lam is currently the President of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS). Moreover, Sr Lam is a Supervisory Board Member of the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) (2023-2026) as well as a Member of the HKHS’s Special Committee on Planning, Design and Construction (2021-2024).

Previously, Sr Lam was the Chairman of the Surveyors Registration Board (2022-2023), Chairman and Spokesman of HKIS Housing Policy Panel (2018-2022), Chairman of the HKIS Planning and Development Division (2010-2011, 2019-2021), a Member of the Appeal Tribunal Panel (Buildings) (2009-2012, 2018-2023), the External Examiner of the University of Hong Kong’s Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies (2017-2021), Adviser to the Po Leung Kuk Property Committee (2020-2022), and a Member of the Working Group on Flat Design and Renovation of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service’s Community Housing Movement (2017-2022).

Sr Lam is also an Urban Planner, a Member of The Hong Kong Institute of Planners and Royal Town Planning Institute.

Ir Daniel LEUNG is currently the Deputy Director of Housing Department.

Ir Leung graduated from the University of Hong Kong with first class honours degree in civil and structural engineering and obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of London (external programme), a Master of Science Degree in Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

He is a Chartered Engineer and a fellow member of the HKIE. He possesses over twenty year’s bountiful experiences in the local construction industry.

Ir Leung leads amulti-disciplinary team for implementation of public housing developments in Hong Kong covering projects from feasibility, planning, design to construction stages, establishing operational policies and strategies, embracing HKHA’s core values being Caring, Customer-focused, Committed and Creative. Michael LI is an architect by profession and studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London and joined the Architectural Services Department in 1997.  Before returning to the department in 2014, he was posted to the Development Bureau’s Energizing Kowloon East Office in facilitating the transformation of Kowloon East area into another premier Central Business District of Hong Kong.

He has extensive professional experience and handled a number of projects including the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point Complex, Kowloon East Regional Police Operation Base, disciplinary staff quarters at Pak Shing Kok and elderly homes at Kwu Tung North adopting Modular Integrated Construction, Hong Kong Wetland Park, the Diamond Hill Columbarium and Crematorium, the City Gallery, Quarantine Camps with about 4,100 quarantine units at various locations of Hong Kong in 2020, eight Community Isolation Facilities in 2022 with about 40,000 units in about four months to combat against COVID-19 and 30,000 units of Light Public Housing by 2027-28.

Professor Wilson Lu is a Chair Professor (Digital Construction) and Head of the Department of Real Estate and Construction at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), specialised in construction management, with particular research interest in BIM and Industry 4.0 technologies including Big Data, Blockchain, IoTs and 3D printing.

Serving as the Associate Dean (Research) of Faculty of Architecture since 2016 and an active member in Construction Industry Council as well as Research Grant Council, Professor Lu is widely recognized for his work with research grants and publications.

Professor Lu is the leader of research grants worth around US$8 million. He was the receiver of the ASCE Journal of Management in Engineering (JME) Best Peer Reviewed Paper Award for 2022; Resources, Conservation & Recycling (RCR) Best Paper Award 2021; buildingSMART International (bSI) Awards 2021, Hong Kong CIC Construction Digitalization Award 2021, HKU Outstanding Young Researcher Award 2014-15, HKU Faculty Knowledge Exchange (KE) award 2018-19, and HKU Faculty Research Output Prize (ROP) award 2018-19. Scott initially trained as a civil engineer working for a global design consultancy. Since qualifying, Scott has spent over 30 years based in Hong Kong in various commercial management roles for the Airport Authority, AsiaWorld-Expo and Ocean Park Corporation.

He joined MTR in 2008 with responsibility for the procurement and commercial management of Hong Kong's then five new railway projects with a combined budget of some HK$200Bn.

Scott is currently General Manager – Commercial Management in MTR’s Capital Works Business Unit with procurement and commercial management responsibility for capital works projects across MTR, including both major asset replacement and multiple planned and ongoing new railway extension projects.

Sustainability	Quantitative analysis on sustainability considerations and achievements. Demonstration of creating better places and spaces for future generations. Demonstrated adoption of sustainable development principles.

Best Deal of the Year

Professionalism	Use of surveying knowledge and/or professional expertise in areas such as technical, financial, legal, environmental, building regulation, sustainability, and restoration where applicable, to achieve outcomes. Demonstrated adherence to RICS ethics. Demonstration of using the most appropriate procurement method for engaging contractors and suppliers (if applicable). Demonstration of the ability to resolve disputes. Demonstration of how international standards have been adopted will be an advantage.
Teamwork / Collaboration	Effective coordination of skillsets among members of the team and with stakeholders. A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in the delivery of the project(s). Contribution of the surveyor to social outcomes. RICS Standards deployed on the project.
Outcome and Achievement	Challenges to be measured according to time, price, complexity, market reputation, pioneering methods and innovation. The measurements shall not be limited to sales volume. Realisation of revenue against a predefined target. Detailing of challenges overcome in the process relative to complexity e.g. What were the difficulties or unique challenges? How were these challenges overcome? Client satisfaction (demonstrated through third party endorsements as appropriate). What projects has the team successfully delivered in the previous calendar year? Team demonstrates best practices in appropriate profession (building surveying, valuation, facilities management etc.). What steps have been taken to ensure the building’s future resilience?
Thought Innovation	Was an innovative approach used to deliver an outcome? What was this approach (technology, planning, procurement, construction) and why was this used over more conventional solutions? How is the firm/team delivering an innovative approach which embraces new technologies? Innovation in financing and viability. Are innovative strategies embedded on projects or tasks that deliver a social impact? Level of creativity in overcoming challenges. How has the firm/team demonstrated resilience and adaptability?
Sustainability	Does the team demonstrate the adoption of sustainability principles? e.g. climate change mitigation and adaptation, waste reduction, biodiversity conservation, social value creation? Have the sustainability achievements of the team been quantified in numerical terms? Environmental impact: Does the team make efforts to measure and reduce the carbon emissions of its projects? Does the team make efforts to quantify and improve the biodiversity impact of its projects? Social Impact: Does the team engage meaningfully with the communities impacted by its projects? Does the team promote and educate stakeholders about sustainability? Health and Well-being: How has the team actively contributed to people’s health and well-being?

Environmental Impact Award

Professionalism	Recognised third party endorsements of the project as professionally outstanding. Use of surveying knowledge and/or professional expertise in areas such as technical competence, finance, legal, environment, and sustainability to achieve outcomes. Demonstrated adherence to RICS ethics. Adoption of international standards will be an advantage but is not essential.
Teamwork / Collaboration	Effective coordination of skillsets among members of the team and with stakeholders. A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in the delivery of the project(s). Contribution of the surveyor to social outcomes. RICS Standards deployed on the project.
Outcome and Achievement	Realisation of nominated project against a predefined target. Detailing of challenges overcome in the process relative to complexity e.g. What were the difficulties or unique challenges? How were these challenges overcome? Cost effectiveness: how was cost managed against a predefined target? Client satisfaction (demonstrated through third party endorsements as appropriate). Project demonstrates best practices in appropriate profession (property, building surveying, facilities management, etc).
Thought Innovation	Are innovative approaches used to deliver outcomes? Is technology embraced within the team? Innovation in financing and viability. New approaches in the planning, procurement, construction, delivery or outcome measurements on projects. Are innovative strategies embedded on projects that deliver a social impact? Level of creativity in overcoming challenges.
Sustainability	How does the project demonstrate the highest commitment to sustainability? Has the environmental impact of the project been evaluated though an established methodology? (e.g. lifecycle assessment) Was any relevant certification achieved? How does the project address the following categories of environmental sustainability? Climate change mitigation (i.e. carbon reductions) Were the carbon emissions (embodied and/or operational) of the project (or the associated asset) measured and reduced? How does the carbon footprint of the project compare to conventional practices? Climate change adaptation How does the project increase asset resilience to climate change (e.g. extreme weather events)? How does the project increase resilience to climate change? Resource efficiency and circular economy Were efforts made to reduce resource use in comparison to conventional practices? e.g. material recovery/reuse Were efforts made to ensure future activities (e.g. building demolition) can contribute to a circular economy? (e.g. design for deconstruction) Air, water and soil pollution Did the project minimise (or reverse) the emission of pollutants to air, water and soil? Biodiversity Did the project create the right conditions to increase the biodiversity of the local area? Water use Were efforts made to quantify and reduce (fresh)water use? Land use Did the project deliver a change in land use that resulted in a positive environmental impact?

Each submission must be accompanied by specific submission materials, which will be reviewed by the judges.

Nomination will be accepted only upon acknowledgement of nomination materials.

Your submission should include:

Region and Category you are submitting for.
Nominator and Nominee contact details.
Main body of nomination – this should clearly explain the project, demonstrate a connection to the judging criteria and show a commitment to professionalism and ethics (showcasing at least 1 but no more than 3 projects that the team/individual has worked on). This is where you want to make it clear to the judges exactly why your submission is deserving of the award. Please note that this will not be a PDF upload, you will need to complete free text sections within the online form, including an introduction and responses to each applicable element of the judging criteria (professionalism, outcome and achievement, teamwork, innovation and sustainability). Word limits have been applied to each free text box in accordance with the criteria weighting. We recommend drafting your responses within a word document and then copying and pasting them into the online submission form.
Up to 3 testimonials (1 page each, PDF upload). For Individual Award categories, at least 1 testimonial must be supplied.
At least one photograph of the nominated team/individual and up to 5 additional photographs of the nominated team/individual and/or project(s) referenced in the submission.
For Individual Award categories, a short video of the Nominee must be supplied (maximum of 2 minutes). This video should introduce the Nominee to the judges, highlighting their achievements and personality.
Up to 3 pieces of other appropriate supporting material, such as technical documentation, media clippings, floor plans, videos, etc. (Maximum of 4 pages per piece of supporting material).
Your company logo.
A 100-word summary of the nomination for marketing purposes – what the project was and how the team/individual has showcased excellence (free text section within the form).
For the Emerging Achiever of the Year category, the Nominee’s full CV with references must be supplied to verify eligibility.

Team and company awards

1. Nominated project(s) and major/key team member(s) must be located or operated in the Awards region being submitted for.

2. Nominations can be made by the nominee (team, company or consortia) or a third party.

3. The project(s) which is the subject of the nomination must have been worked on within the 2023 calendar year, though not necessarily completed.

4. Nominations must be based on at least one but no more than three projects within the calendar year (nominating party to select).

5. A company may submit a maximum of 2 nominations within the same category (including joint nominations). Each nomination must be for a separate team and project.

6. A company may submit a joint nomination however, where a joint nomination is submitted a subsequent, stand-alone application from the same company, on the same project(s) and in the same category is not allowed.

7. Nominations must be submitted via the online submission platform. Where multiple nominations are being submitted by the one organisation, a separate online submission will need to be completed for each nomination.

8. Nomination must be accompanied by a 100-word summary for marketing purposes.

9. Other relevant supporting materials/documents are optional but welcomed. These should be limited to a maximum of five additional photographs, three additional pieces of supporting material/documents and three testimonials. (Documents and testimonials should be in PDF format.)

10. A logo must be provided as well as a photo of the team or individual nominated. This will be used for marketing purposes and during award presentations.

11. Information provided within the submission may be used by RICS for the purpose of the judging or promotion of the Awards. Any confidential information must be clearly stated within the submission.

12. The jury panel’s decision on eligibility of the nominations shall be final and is non appealable.

13. Any category which receives less than 2 nominations will not be awarded a winner, exceptions made at the Judge’s discretion.

Individual awards

1. Nominated individual must be currently located/operating/have worked in the Awards region being submitted for.

2. The project(s) which is the subject of the nomination must have been worked on within the 2023 calendar year, though not necessarily completed. However, submissions for the Woman of the Built Environment Award and Emerging Achiever Award can reference achievements throughout the nominee’s entire career.

3. Nominations must be based on at least one but no more than three project(s) (nominating party to select).

4. Nominations must be submitted via the online submission form. Where multiple nominations are being submitted by the one organisation, a separate online submission form will need to be completed for each nomination.

5. Nomination must be accompanied by a 100-word summary for marketing purposes.

6. Nomination must be accompanied by at least 1 testimonial from a client, colleague or peer. (Testimonials should be in PDF format.)

7. Nomination must be accompanied by a short video of the nominee (maximum 2 minutes).

8. Other relevant supporting materials/documents are optional but welcomed. These should be limited to a maximum of five additional photographs, three additional pieces of supporting material/documents and two additional testimonials. (Documents and testimonials should be in PDF format.)

Emerging Achiever of the Year Award

1. In addition to the individual award criteria, the Emerging Achiever of the Year must have less than 10 years professional experience working in the built and/or natural environments to be eligible.

2. Nomination must be accompanied by the Nominee’s full CV with references, to verify eligibility.

An online submission is completed for each nomination.
For team awards, at least one but no more than three projects have been included in the nomination.
For team awards, the nomination is accompanied by at least 1 photograph of the team/individuals nominated (for marketing use), a 100-word summary of the nomination (for marketing use) and includes a copy of the nominee’s company logo (as appropriate).
For individual awards, the nomination is accompanied by at least 1 photograph of the individual nominated (for marketing use), a 100-word summary of the nomination (for marketing use), at least 1 testimonial, a short introductory video of the nominee (max 2 mins) and a copy of the nominee’s company logo (as appropriate).
For the Emerging Achiever of the Year category only, the nomination is accompanied by the Nominee’s full CV with references, to verify eligibility.
Supporting material may include testimonials, photographs, technical documentation, media clippings, floor plans, etc. to support the adjudication process.
Supporting material is limited to a maximum of five additional photographs, three additional pieces of relevant material/documents and three testimonials.
Confidential information is clearly labelled ‘RICS Awards in Confidence’.

Information provided within the submission may be used by RICS for the purpose of the judging or promotion of the Awards. Any confidential information must be clearly stated within the submission.

Terms and Conditions

Judges will exclude any submissions that are not completed in full.

The closing date for entries is 24/05/2024 however RICS reserves the right to extend the deadline.

The judges’ decision is final, and awards will be made at their discretion.

Judges reserve the right to move a project into another category if they feel it would better fit the criteria.

We regret that feedback cannot be provided on individual entries.

RICS reserves the right to use photographs and content of entries for PR and publicity purpose. By entering your images and information as part of your submission for the RICS Awards you agree to grant RICS or any third-party we deem suitable worldwide, non-exclusive, unlimited right to use, publish and print in any media.

Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and procedures along with the terms and conditions and to have agreed to be bound by them when entering this competition.

By entering you are agreeing to be contacted by RICS with details of the RICS Awards.

It is the responsibility of the entrant to establish that there are no restrictions or reasons the project cannot be entered and that all interested parties have been contacted and are aware of the entry.

To help us manage and maintain the reputation of the RICS Awards you must inform us about any negative media stories relating to the entry that have occurred during the 12 months preceding the awards ceremony. Negative publicity does not necessarily mean that your entry will be disallowed; however, if it is not disclosed your entry may be disqualified.

Entrants warrant RICS that it has the full and exclusive right to present their credentials (e.g. “Surveyor”) as such. RICS accepts these credentials in good faith and cannot verify that they are correct. Accordingly, any dispute regarding entrants’ credentials must be dealt with between the parties concerned and not with RICS.
