Stretching from Tewkesbury down to Bournemouth and Wessex across to the Isles of Scilly, the South West of England is RICS’ largest UK region.
RICS in the South West includes local groups in Bristol, Cornwall, Exeter, Gloucestershire, North Wiltshire, Plymouth, Somerset, South Wessex, and Swindon.
The uniformity conferred by the term 'region' masks some extreme economic variations of fortune within the area. Although the South West takes in the large Honda factory in Wiltshire, the 'Silicon Gorge' linking Bristol, Swindon and Gloucester, and Bournemouth and Poole's prosperous coastal fringe, journeying further west finds an ever-increasing dependence on agriculture and seasonal tourism.
The South West regional board works hard to raise the profile of the profession within the region, and to make the area an attractive destination for surveying graduates.
