RICS in Switzerland held its Annual Conference, Annual Meeting and 150th Anniversary celebrations all on 19 September in Bern.
The conference theme was "Our Changing World" and drew together experts from a variety of sectors all looking at the challenges and opportunities we face in the Real Estate and Construction sectors. We were pleased to welcome the following speakers drawn from Switzerland and across Europe:
They covered topics including a review of the current market and prospects for the future, how business can survive and thrive during a time of change, the impact of technology on real estate and markets, digitalisation in construction and facing the challenge of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
We thank again our sponsors Redeveco and RUAG Real Estate and our media partner Immobilien Business.
The Annual Meeting followed the conference, apart from the usual items, we congratulated all the newly qualified RICS professionals in the last 12 months and presented diplomas. We thanked the outgoing Board members for their contribution – Benjamin Zemann, Patrick Brenninkmeijer and Andreas Deuber. We also elected one new Board member Jelena Radovic and appointed an advisor to the Board Michael Trübestein. Our special guest this year was Noel McEvoy, Director for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Department for International Trade, British Embassy. He spoke about the close relationship between Switzerland and the UK both now and after Brexit. For information on the annual meeting please contact Mary Ann Reynolds firstname.lastname@example.org.
RICS celebrates its 150th anniversary this year and coincidentally RICS in Switzerland celebrates its 15th anniversary. To mark both occasions, we had a party in the evening. We were pleased to hear a special message recorded for us by John Hughes, the President and watched the 150 Anniversary video. We also noted the landmarks and key figures in the development of RICS in Switzerland. It was an excellent evening enjoyed by all.
Swiss professionals gathered to celebrate RICS' anniversary and discuss trends in real estate and in the construction sector
